Is this guy the Zodiac killer?

It's been a while since I've seen the Fincher movie so I don't remember the names. Was the guy in the OP in that movie?

I don't believe so. I'm about to watch Zodiac so I can confirm or deny it, but I don't think this guy was mentioned at all.

It'd be weird if it was him.

All these years, we've been thinking it was some criminal mastermind/sick genius, and it ends up being some lovesick oddball who was just fortunate enough to avoid detection rather than doing so through his own criminal brilliance.

I don't buy it.

getting dumped started it? and doing drugs fueled it?

See Ted Bundy.

I mean, was that the actual "cause"? No. But it could definitely be a catalyst and the drugs/alcohol are almost always involved on some level.

I'm pretty sure it was Arthur Leigh Allen, but i guess we'll never truly know.

Jake Gyllenhall was obsessed with this case for years, and because I'm not interested in doing as much investigation as he did, I'm going to go with his recommendation that it was the bald guy from the hardware store.

Sounds like this guy in the OP is trying to make a name for himself and sell books.

edit: after reading the article, I guess he's not writing a book. The supposed zodiac asked him to write a book and give the proceeds to the victim's families, but I guess this guy's such a jerk that he's going to deny a dying man's last wish.

edit again: this is an interesting thing from someone in the comments section -
They should be looking at L. Paul Stricklin. A handwriting sample was given to the FBI, the man was a volunteer at the Boy Scouts in Vallejo at the time of the killings. He was in the Navy. He went to cryptology school and is alive and living in another state. He looks just like the profile picture of the man who shot the cab driver in San Francisco.
Louie Myer was a teenager at the time, he was not skilled in cryptology, did not own a car at the time and could not have done the crimes as well as not match the physical description.

I wasn't able to find anything on google about this Stricklin guy. Does anyone know if these accusations are true?

You guys ever heard of the Cleveland Torso Murders? The guy was never found. Possibly about 15 murders. He might have committed other outside Cleveland area. So believe he might have committed the Black Dahlia murder in L.A. creepy stuff.

The Torso Murderer always*beheadedand often*dismembered*his victims, sometimes also cutting the torso in half; in many cases the cause of death was the decapitation itself. Most of the male victims were*castrated, and some victims showed evidence of chemical treatment being applied to their bodies. Many of the victims were found after a considerable period of time following their deaths, sometimes a year or more. This made identification nearly impossible, especially since the heads were often not found.

He is writing a book. He posted a vlog on youtube saying that he has a lot more information but it's his "intellectual property" and he's saving it for a book. He then called out the webmaster of some website for blowing him off and missing out on the big scoop.

Personally, i think his friend is full of shit. A lot of people were taken in by the Zodiac. Whether it be the people obsessed with the case or sick people that admire how he killed and got away with it, rub it in everybody's face, and make the bay area panic. Every year somebody comes out swearing they knew the Zodiac and had a bunch of circumstantial evidence. News stations will take an interesting one and run with it once a year because it's interesting. He's kind of like the Jack The Ripper of the 20th century. If the guy really wanted to be found out. He maybe would have wrote a letter which would have been matched with the others as evidence. Plus, all the witness had the guy as atleast in his 30's and pretty bulky..this guy looks like a twerp.
