I'm pretty sure that Arman could blanket Topuria. While Ilia is obviously well rounded, Arman is by far the best wrestler he's ever faced. I will be surprised if Topuria can stop all of Arman's takedowns.

This is one of those puncher's chance fights where Topuria gets the KO/TKO in a certain % of fights, but probably loses the decision the rest of the time. However, Topuria has shown that his "puncher's chance" is pretty darn high. Could be a 50/50 fight.

Whenever I happen to watch a few minutes of Chael or Bisping or someone like that, they are always wrong about a lot of details regarding the fighters history or previous fights.

As someone with a good memory, I easily get annoyed if someone continually presents me with inaccurate information, regardless of if he was a previous champion or a nobody.

The big mma-youtubers are generally more knowledgeable about fighter's recent history and record, and also overall more entertaining.

I just love how literally half a year ago, the narrative was: "Arman screwed up his TS, he is stupid, and he doesn’t deserve an immediate TS after this F-up." And now, as soon as Islame left LW and Top moved up, the same people say about Armen—who hasn’t had a fight since then, thus, hasnt fought since April 24, by the way—that he must get the next TS. And if he doesn’t, then it’s Ilias’s fault, and Ilias is avoiding him and is a fraud.

I mean it's true Topuria has basically proven his striking can beat anyone almost, his grappling hasn't been tested. People want to see it tested, myself included. I wish it was Islam instead of Arman, but some rather see Arman go now. I just don't like the idea of a guy missing weight for a title fight and pulling out, sitting around 1.5 years for another one. He clearly has earned a title shot, but he got one and pulled out the day of.

The fight itself will likely be pretty boring with Arman diving for takedowns while Topuria roughs him up like the Mitchell fight. I'm just sick of LWs sitting around. Gaethje says he's only taking a titleshot or retiring. Arman is probably paying bots to hype his social media up. Everyone's doing everything except getting another W, just 1 fight. Only reason I think Paddy should jump the line if everyone is sitting out playing rank squatting games.

It's hipster UFC fans these days who fancy themselves as hardcore fans with more knowledge than the rest of us. That group get boners for any high level wrestler from the caucuses. If Ilia grew out more of a beard and wrestled more, they'd be very, very perplexed about who to root for in a fight between those two.

But he took down the legendary Olivera! lol I get it, Arman's TDs aren't great. I might even argue Gamrot would test Topuria more in that regard. Guess if he can't pass Arman then Islam fight is out of question. I know Topuria is originally a wrestler, so I don't expect him to be terrible defending takedowns, probably much better than usual bunch of LWs. I probably rather see Topuria against Evloev for a harder test had he stayed at FW. Wish UFC punished Arman and Gaethje and just made them fight someone before a title shot.

On the flip side, I think I noticed Arman hanging with Khamat during the fight victory, and iron sharpens iron, maybe he's improved because otherwise, I see arman as a top 5 fighter , and not champ level.

I also see Arman as a top 3 guy, but I don't see him (or anyone) as a lock to beat Ilia.

If I recall correctly, Ryan hall was a 2:1 favorite over Topuria, couldnt land anything, got ko'd like never before and basically never fought again. Bryce landed 1/10, Volk 0/1

He’s very much still relevant to people like me because of his skill level and his ranking. Arguably the best fighter of any title challenger in the division currently, so people are naturally excited to see Topuria defend against him.

Id rather see real championship level tests, like Arman and Gamrot. Personally not interested in seeing UFC lineup brawlers like bowling pins for Topuria to knock down.

I think it's just people sticking up for him because he is the clear number 1 contender and Top seems to be trying to avoid him.

Arman is a good grappler, but he missed his shot and he doesn't really jump out on the screen.
I'm for him getting a TS for the good of the sport (or whatever.) but I feel like the hype is FAKE AF.

Arman does not match up well against Topuria. People keep thinking Arman will out grapple Topuria but are missing a key thing. Topuria is freakishly strong, he is very strong in the clinch and did some greco wrestling growing up. Its not going to be easy for Arman to get him down. Topurias going to piece him up on the feet and probably knock him out.

Who are the possible fights for Topuria next besides Arman?
Paddy? 23-3 career record
9-1 in his last 10.
Difference is Paddy's best win is over Chandler who is 6-4 in his last 10. Paddy has never faced a top 10 opponent.

Gathje? 26-5 career
7-3 in his last 10 but only on a 1 fight win streak, 3-2 in his last 5.

So you think they should rush Paddy to a title fight to appease Toppy or they should give Justin a 3rd title shot? Who exactly has done more to EARN a title shot currently?

The UFC is fairly atrocious at bookings the last few years, so who knows what will happen. However, beating Charles, even in a close fight, absolutely makes you elite. At the time Charles was #1 and only lost to Islam ending a historic win streak in the division. He then wins his next fight showing he's still got it.

Arman is a fun match-up and makes sense for the title shot. The rest is just BS. Do Bronx is the singular best win of any lightweight in the world right now.
