mental illness will continue to rise, as the thing that keeps society binided together (you work hard you climb the social ladder) is no longer true. the secret is now to have a rich person notice you and either marry you or give you money out of pity

Yes the magic pill that will fix everything.

And it's the perfect excuse for doing nothing.

How many people have five or more mental illnesses? How many prescriptions are they on? Are they on Medicaid, Medicare, Food Stamps, and get a monthly check from the government?

And if they're confronted about it they list out their issues like they're qualifications for being a lazy fuck.

That's a very good point, it was probably prevalent back in the day. But people didn't know or understand it as much.
Back then the working class expected and accepted life to be a struggle. These days in first world countries we only expect good things and are shocked when we don’t get only good things.

Then you got corporate interests convincing people that normal human conditions are pathological so they can sell you their drugs and insurances. Expecting to live a pain free life is pure fantasy.

lol yah true. People over use it as a crutch nowadays to do nothing or they abuse the system.

Money is just faster track to self destruction for people who are severely mentally ill people.

All that shit only helps temporarily
well, what you said is in fact wrong. yes life is physically easier but a house is more expensive now compared to the average persons income than it was 100 years ago. think about it, with all the advancements no actual money has gone to the working class. we all have more money but it doesnt matter if i have a million if a house is a billion. all that matters is how big my slice of the pie is. i assume none of this impacts you

life is a game, a competition,
That's a reasonable observation. People were living differently back than. People were actually trying to survive rather than thrive. It was about getting the essential needs of the day, rather than get your dopamine hit on whatever high you are getting today.
standards are higher today, just surviving isn't gonna get you to the top of the tribe. being alive was enough to get laid. not any more. you have to grift and make meme coins and con the elderly

i see plenty of 5'3 old ugly dudes with wives, because dudes used to have a bigger piece of the pie. not as much now

It's quite sad how things have turned out for us. We expect things to come easy nowadays. We're definitely a softer society.

Both.

No doubt that there was more bravado in the past than today, but I do also think that the bombardment of social media and key communal services being cut due to the cost of living crisis is exasperating things.

Hmmm interesting, so you believe it's harder life today, than it was in the past?

We have introduced alot of unnatural human interaction with social media and so on, it's def not for everyone, even though everyone pretty much uses it.

Mental illness is promoted as an alternative lifestyle to taking any personal responsibility. It's contrived, planned, promoted, and nurtured.

Interesting statement, so you don't believe in mental illness?

Ah so you’ve got no game.

And on top of that you’re clueless. Social mobility has never been as possible as it is now.

Way more in the past
Given depth of time and horrors the saw plus some genetic. We can spot it now and semi fix it but the rates are probably going up agsin thanks to dysgenics.
just look at infant mortality over 200,000 years excluding the last 200.
That being said alot of people who wouldn't regularly survive and breeding are doing it so up it goes plus the environment they are in.

Government figured out it is more profitable to let's then loonies out and sell them pills or put them in for profit jails as opposed to state funded mental hospitals.

I think it’s the same but people are just softer now because things are so easy now compared to the past. People are under the delusion that normal human conditions like pain, anxiety, depression, and suffering can be remedied by pills, drugs, sex, money, and fulfilling basal desires that can never truly be satisfied

Nobody complained about those things in the past cause they were busy surviving.

Also people used to just self medicate with alcohol.

I want to know who the 3 or 4 actual "normal" people on this planet were and how they decided on what "normal" actually is... because as far as I can tell, every one of us is a little bit touched in our own ways.

Let’s be real, evolution would deal with mental illness for 99% of human history as unsympathetically as it could.

It’s addressed more now, obviously, but would seem odd if it was more prevalent now, proportionally.

TBH, think it’s gone the other way and its probably an excuse for a lot of people now.

I believe a lot of mental illness is demons
