Is There Any MMA Fighter Who Managed Their Career Better Than DC?

He shouldn't have fought Jones the roid cheater, especially the second time. That was a huge mistake.

Ridiculous. He hospitalized himself cutting less weight when he was in the Olympics. He’d die before he made 186.

You don't understand how cutting weight works. DC is a fatass who refused to get into shape. Is Kelvin Gastelum a natural middleweight because he struggled to make 170? No, it's because he refused to diet and get into his ideal shape.

There are two methods fighters use to cut weight. 1) Dieting and leaning out, the way most of us do and 2) the water weight cut that athletes in combat sports with divisions do right before the fight. DC relied on the latter and didn't do the former. The fact he had issues in the Olympics is a direct counter to the idea that he managed his career great.

If Roy Nelson tried to do a water weight cut to LHW without getting into shape he would die before making 205. That doesn't mean Nelson couldn't get into shape and make that weight. The same applies to DC. How much do you think a Cormier with 15% body fat would weigh?

The fact that he had trouble cutting weight in his physical prime, when he was in the Olympics, shows how hilariously off base you are. It’s absolutely idiotic to think he could shave off another 20 pounds after cutting already just because you aren’t impressed with his physique.

Pretty much perfect, down to the last detail. Never once missed weight or had any kind of PED mishap that would blemish his record. Had a couple of losses to other all time greats, left the sport as one of the absolute best to ever do it. Starts to make the transition to broadcasting during his last couple of years as a fighter. Kills it as a broadcaster, ends up getting promoted to the regular PPV crew and face of UFC media. Has his own podcast with Chael and teaches high school wrestling at his kids high school. Did any other fighter do it right to this level? I can’t think of any bad career move that DC has ever made.
Khabib.....never lost
GSP.....lost twice but avenged both losses
Jon Jones.....Only one controversial loss.....

All made a lot of money.

DC got beat by Jones twice and Stipe twice. He also had the towelgate incidient.

I know people like to think they're special unicorns cause it takes away accountability, but the laws of thermodynamics are undefeated. Calories in, calories out applies to all humans.

If DC ate less he'd lose weight. He chooses not to. That's why he's fat.

If I remember correctly, didn't DC also have skeptical test results the same time Jon did? He didn't piss hot, but the numbers were certainly unusual.

Also... DC is a fucking terrible on the mic. He's better than listening to Joe Rogan or Jon Anik, but that isnt' saying much.

I'd take drunk Bisping over all of them. I don't need the play-by-play or history lessons. I need someone to make watching a stale product more entertaining. At least Bisping might say something funny or do something stupid. Rogan's so stoned he forgets he's on the mic half the time.

I think DC's grappling knowledge sometimes makes the fights more entertaining, especially in the clinch where it seems like nothing much is happening but he explains the positioning

Thermodynamics applies to everyone, but everyone also has slightly different attributes that decide how these laws affect them. On the extremes you have people with different hormonal conditions, inflammatory diseases, cancers or other diseases and medications that will affect their weight, but even at the baseline everyone metabolism is slightly different. Of course that's not the reason why so many otherwise healthy people are obese, but just because it's all thermodynamics it doesn't mean it's the same for everyone.

GSP

  • Avenged all losses, only had 2
  • Most dominant WW, undisputed GOAT of the division
  • Big PPV draw
  • Made lots of money
  • 2 division champion
  • Retired on top
  • Still healthy and in shape
Movie and TV career as well.

All of those things go down when you, wait for it, lose weight.

Trim the fat.

DC got the title shot at HW because he was the champ at LHW. Without that belt thats not happening. Also it took him like an additional 3 years to get the HW shot. He'd be gone by then.
You make it sound like he was a bum at HW or LHW...the reason he dropped to LHW was because his teammate Cain Velasquez was already at HW, he won SF Heavyweight tournament before SF was absorbed by the UFC, his loses at HW were at 40-41 years old, DC was getting the HW title one way or the other, his only loses are to the MMA GOAT, and Stipe, a younger guy that a lot consider the HW GOAT and he did beat first.

If he retired right after knocking out Stipe he really would have had a perfect career with perfect ending.

You should have told him that in the Olympics.

Shit, with your amazing analysis, you have to be a fitness trainer for wrestling olympiads. If you aren’t yet, you should apply.

Missed vs Rumble didn't get punished. Took a 3rd fight vs Stipe, wrong move, Stipe was younger. Eye poked Stipe then got ruined with a retaliation poke in the third. But I think he can easily be ranked top 10 goats. Didn't take too much damage. Just vs Jon and Stipe and a bit vs Rumble and Gus. Career is a 10/19 definitely.

You mean the Olympics where he failed to make weight cause he was 27lbs heavier than what he'd wrestled at in college?

DC's been getting fatter his entire life because he won't stop eating. He needed Ozempic, not Olympics.
