Is there a reason Mighty Mouse has low PPV numbers?

Height sadly , people want to see the ko , and you're less likely to see that within the smallest divisions ... i mean DJ am sure has the ability to knock someone out , ( case in point he koed Benavidez ) however the masses are attracted to larger than life fighters ..... it is what it is.

The little fella loves his SJW padded bubble. He fails to step out of his comfort zone and knows that in today's current social climate, a bevy of rainbow knights will come rushing to his defense. I wouldn't mind seeing the little guy on the prelims, maybe make a Prelim King belt that he can defend for all time.

Post from your real account, then we'll talk.

His fights are somewhat boring considering how outmatched MM's opponents are. Nobody knows his opponents. His personality is boring too.

If the average home television screen size was 75inch..... The ppv would be higher... .... Imo

He should do some bit role in one of those new super hero movies they are always making.

Do some impressive moves and get some new fans who are probably already into the same kinda stuff he is.

Thats a better angle for marketing him than making him hawk Metro PCS imo

What divisions are really drawing these days. Joanna was always a co-main, the bantamweight blokes haven't headlined a PPV in ages. Not sure they'd do any better.

Boring. Not entertaining out of the cage or willing to promote his own fights. No KO power. Bounces around the cage instead of trying to finish fighters he outclasses. No interesting rivalries. Majority of his resume are bums or fighters he was expected to beat. Oh and he's a midget. That links to his lack of KO power.

All guys who aren’t Conor, Jones, Ronda and GSP can’t draw. It’s not just exclusive to MM

Great post but I think the question is more about why doesn't his talent and run translate to buys like it has for others. Jones, Fedor(a decade ago) and even Anderson and GSP, while not mainstream stars the level of Ronda and Conor, come with built in fanbases. It's a product of their talent and reputation. These guys will guarantee you 250k plus, regardless of the card.

But MM, despite being insane, doesn't draw like that. I think it's a bias against smaller fighters in MMA. He has the talent to transcend it like we've seen some boxers do, but hasn't. It's kinda not fair.
i dont go out of my way to watch the ufc so i can find equality in smaller men. i watch it because i want to see the baddest people in the world are and why they are the saddest people.

a guy like mighty mouse at a certain point goes from skill to novelty because realistically he wouldnt get passed most healthy adult males that go to the gym.

however your average hw will maul most adults in any given city alone.

i dont want to see skill...i want to see effective skill that could be applied in a real life situation.

I'm making this thread for @The guest
I can only speak for myself. I tend not to be as excited for MM fights because:

1. He fights too many no names like Reis and Borg, both of whom I couldn't care less about before their title shots. I'd be pumped for a Cejudo rematch or a TJ fight, though.

2. Size. Think of MMA as a video game, with FLW being the easiest difficulty and HW being the hardest, as seen by HW having the smallest margin for error due to everyone having KO power. MM is king at FLW difficulty, but it's hard for me to be as excited for it as someone who plays at even LW difficulty.

And, yes, I know it's not MM's fault that he was born 5'3 and there is no denying that he is top 3 all time skill-wise.

1. small, so it looks visual off putting to the mainstream
2. not that interesting, hes no that charasmatic
3. everyone knows hes gonma beat his competition because they’re unknowns that aren’t on his level

Johnson was already at a disadvantage in his drawing power simply because of his size, but it certainly didn't help matters with how the UFC promoted him and his division in his and their respective first impressions to the audience.

The contenders either fight on the main card of Fight Nights or the undercard of Fox events, and Johnson's first three title defenses weren't on PPV. The UFC also doesn't advertise Johnson or the contenders, so why should anyone be surprised that he's done poor buyrates under those circumstances? And Johnson's situation was only made worse by the fact that his reign began when the UFC was putting all their eggs in the Weidman/Ronda basket.

If you look at their history, the UFC is a terrible promotional company, they're just fortunate that the sport and its fighters can often times sell themselves.
