His striking has improved leaps and bounds from when he started. Of course he's no dynamo on the feet, but he's got such an awkward style combined with his grappling prowess that he's very effective standing up, and he's got some decent kicks.
Saul Rogers was never really in the UFC. He was on TUF, was supposed to fight in the final (and very likely would've won), but lied on his visa application about his criminal history or something and they cut him. He was legit and shut down Hall with his size and grappling, but it was also a win on TUF, which really doesn't mean a ton to me because no one is operating under normal conditions when they're fighting on a reality show. I don't think it proves much, and that's why we see so many fighters look so much better or worse immediately after the show.
As for Eddie Fyvie, who cares? It was Hall's pro debut like 15 years ago, he's allowed to lose to a nobody haha. Fyvie himself lost to some dude named Jim Miller in his debut, and what has that guy ever done?

Saul was never in the UFC, he lied on his visa and couldn't enter the States for the TUF finale. UFC cut him coming off of TUF. He's in Bellator now, had his last fight last weekend.
