Social Is the Victorian (middle class) Aesthetic the best style of dress?

It looks great, but it's strictly for being outside with temperatures below 10 celsius. All those layers... I'd be drenched in sweat within 30 minutes of a normal working day.
I think you would be surprised. I have been in extremely hot temperatures in the sun with zero subscreen, just wearing long pants, a shirt, all cotton and a hat. Of course you sweat but your sweat keeps you cool in your shirt. Between that and having to cake myself in sunscreen, i ll take the long clothes.

Clothing is one of the great things about the different cultures. Wear it with pride.

No. 1930-40's were the best compromise between overall style and functionality.
Victorian fashion can go screw itself, I don't wantto sweat in a three piece suit in summer or my wife to wear three underskirts.
And some stuff like sports and utility clothes are at their best right now due to technological progress, even though I despise modern fashion.

I'm glad we moved on from it. It's classy for sure, but over the top for day to day life. I'd hate to be expected to dress like PT Barnum to take a trip to the grocery store. Nice looking woman in a sun dress > these outfits.

And you were viewed as almost naked wearing only trousers and a shirt in the Victorian era.

Global warming is absolutely happening just judging from any old pics, not just Victorian England.

This is after googling "summertime 1920s New York"

Either temperatures were a lot cooler or people were ok with sweating their balls off.

Summertime now requires shorts and a t-shirt. And if you have to wear long sleeves and pants outside, it's just for that time walking between your air conditioned car and some air conditioned building. And even then it's hell.
