Is the Sopranos worth it now?

Sopranoes makes you feel like you’re one of them. Like Sons Of Anarchy. But you’ll be sad and lonely when it ends, or u can start another show lol

To me the first season is the best, season 2 is great, and season 3 is really good. Season 4 the show takes a nosedive for me, season 5 the show got back to being good. The season 6's to me were pretty pointless and shitty but I did like the ending.

thats like asking if raw dogging is better than wearing a condom. If you have to ask, you just don't get it.

I recently started and subsequently finished the Sopranos. Knowing how it ended didn't really impact the experience at all. It's truly a top-tier show. It's just as good as it's been hyped up to be. In my head, with the full context of the show in the mind, the ending didn't feel ambiguous at all to me. I just Googled the ending and was shocked to see that so many people STILL have different opinions and ideas about what happened. I saw that David Chase recently clarified it, and I'm sure the whole time he must have been confused and amused at the reactions. Again, it seems very obvious what happens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fantastic show. Definitely worth watching now, as it ever was.

I was pretty young when the Sopranos was the biggest thing on tv so I missed out on all the fun. I keep saying I'm gonna watch it but sadly I'm a binge watcher And the thought of binging all 86 episodes of this show makes me feel exhausted.

But is it worth it? How well does it hold up after more than 20 years from its start?
Just watched it recently. Great show..

The Sopranos is great, one of my fave series of all time (and I'm not big on Netflix series and the like)

Ya

It's probably my favorite full show. Got competes til season 5. True detective I rate higher but only season 1 and it's an anthology. I rewatched the whole thing 2 or 3 years ago, holds up great. Don't worry about era it works at any point. Never saw the wire though.

Absolutely, it's not that dated, the mob still exists but the RICO act dramatically changed it, like most crime, it's almost primarily in drug dealing now and not nearly as organized and sophisticated as it once was, the Sopranos was filmed in an era where the mob was on it's last legs so it holds up very well.

I gotta give it another try then. Made it 1 and 1/2 seasons in and quit. Just wasn't for me.

Love:
The Wire
Breaking Bad
Better Call Saul

I watched it again recently with my wife, who had never seen it and refused to watch it for the longest time because she thinks James Gandolfini is gross (fat and balding).

I still really enjoyed it. She loved it.

I finished my first run through about a month ago - at age 42 I wish I'd have watched it before now! For me, its the best TV series I've ever watched and I loved every minute. Looking back Season 1 was slow as the built the characters and story but at the time I had no basis for comparison. Well worth a watch and I'll definitely be revisiting it again in the not too distant future

Same! I'm 43 and did my first watch-through about a year ago after being nagged by a good friend for abut 5 years - "How can you have not seen Sopranos when Goodfellas is your favorite film?!"

I genuinely wish I'd started when he told me too - I'm on my 3rd run now, but in a way I'm glad that the more mature 40-something me started it rather than the 20-something me that would have lost interest.

Foe me, the best piece of TV I've ever seen and am probably likely to see!

Still the best show. Season 1 is the worst, and it's still very good. S2 is excellent, and it only gets better from there. There (usually) 13 excellent stories every season. It certainly gets darker as the show progresses, but, imo, it gets funnier, too.

Watching it with my NY Italian girlfriend currently....

Loving it, and loving having some insight from a very proud Italian American on couchside commentary.
