Is the McGregor aura gone?

Depends on his next fight. This was a bad loss, but it's mma and the past year has shown us that anyone can lose. Belts change hands really fast. But if Conor has an impressive performance next time @145 or 155 he'll remain a superstar.

He can't trash talk anymore since he lost in the worst way possible. He showed poor conditioning, a weak chin, went for a panic takedown, was back mounted and submitted, and he tapped rather quickly showing no heart unlike Holly

Nah, it was a debatable stoppage and Conor fought a good fight against a well-prepared guy. I think his image is as good or better than ever.

dude beat up 3 midgets and was all pumped up ... LOL

aura shattered like rich franklins nose my man

PLEASE UFC feed him to frankie edgar

he'll still be able to get under people's skin and in their head

Not as much as before. Future opponents will now have an ammo against and his ground is confirmed to be suspect. Instead of getting a "movement coach" he needs legit sparring partners/conditioning coach.

Did you just compare Silva, the guy who still holds the record for most title defenses in the UFC even with guys like Jones and GSP, and aho handily beat fighters from the LHW division, with Conor McGregor??

I compared his aura not his accomplishment. When Silva got done with the Weidman fights, his aura was gone. Both Nick and Michael were able to taunt him back and be competitive with Silva since the anxiety was gone thanks to Chris.

His main selling method was trash talking and his punching mystique

He lost both , his opponent can use a ton of diaz lines and his punching is not mythical anymore

He will sell another PPV with a rematch against aldo / edgar but if he loses that hes pretty much finished

He won't be anywhere near as big of a draw now. Once the aura goes so do the casual fans as they look for the next thing to jump on the bandwagon of, be it in this sport or any other.

Yeah. They fucked up bad. No idea how he is gonna go down to 145 now, 155 is full of killers who will fuckin destroy him and...oh,its over.

Conor never had that. People doubted him, sometimes unfairly and fighters went as far as calling his feats as only due to luck.

Anderson 'aura' only became real after his wins against Hendo and Belfort, before that a lot of people doubted him.

But now the make believe is over.

It's over. Franky will destroy next. Hopefully takes fans back to Ireland with him.

Hey, Andy's aura was gone at 40 and 40 fights deep...

I think that just means Cloner got exposed at 27 and 23 fights deep.

I look forward to the excuses.

He hand-picked his opponent, refused to cut weight, failed to deliver with his "power" and "timing", got beat up, got tired, became a wrestler, and got 209 choked.

Yeah, it's gone.

I hope so. As much as I dislike how McGregor and fans carried themselves around, if McGregor learns to let his delusions subside and comes back even stronger, that would be just plain awesome to see.

You have mentioned GSP. It takes a special human being to change a big part of his ways to re-built and succeed even more after an embarrassing, career-effecting fall. Unfortunately, I just don't think Conor has that kind of mentality. Maybe his antics are all a show and tried to play safe tonight. I don't know, instead of GSP, why not draw a comparison to BJ Penn?

Without a doubt imo. His confidence will never be the same and people will see this.

If he defends FW and then successfully moves to LW, this loss won't look bad. In fact, it'll be testament to his fighting spirit. People will just say he moved up too quickly.

Dana hand picking his next fight at 145--and you know he will--won't help Conor at all. Only beating Edgar will, and if Conor thought he could win that fight it would've already occurred. At the very least he's now been exposed as just a big bully who whipped up on "midgets" the same way Kramer whipped up on those 10-year olds in karate class in that one Seinfeld episode. Now he'll be just another decent fighter. Nothing too special about that.

Gone and down the drain, easy to hit, no ground game and no heart.

He is more likely to go on 3 fight lose streak now.
