Is the co-main bigger than the main event?

I am more interested in Kopylov vs Robocop than the WMMA fight.
Or Bo vs Vieira
Or Darish vs BSD
Or the Prates fight
Or the Brady fight

Not sure about GM3 vs Daukaus, though

Who you got Brady vs Morales?

That fight I find really interesting.

Brady has been pretty dominant with his ground game,
But Morales is fast and viscious and seems to just need a small window of opportunity. I really like the way he swarms a guy when he smells blood, dude is a great finisher

I have very high hopes for morales. he's huge for WW if he can stay there for just 2-3 more years he'll be golden. he'll have to move up to MW at some point when he exits his 20's, I'd imagine.

Umm, no.

When was the last time a high level wmma fight ended in a finish? Let’s not pretend it’s anywhere near as interesting or entertaining as high level men’s division. Frankly I’d prefer if Brady-Morales was the co-main if you gave me the choice.

Grasso submitted Shevchenko in March 2023. That is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

Edit
I cheated and looked up after that.
Kayla Harrison submitted Julianna Pena in June 2025.

Probably won’t be a popular take but…….. I’m expecting Islam to roll JDM pretty easy….. well the co-main pretty much tells who the best P4p female on the planet is.

I’m still more excited for Islam vs JDM and I hope I’m wrong about the result, but I could see how you could call the co-main a “bigger” fight.

Do you think he can stay on his feet vs Brady?

Thats a fight where I could see either guy "outclassing" the other in their prefered fight location, Brady being able to seemingly smother most folks and Morales just being a stone cold killer if he gets his opponent any sort of Dazed, stunned rocked or tired.

And Bradys striking is suspect or at least has been in the past. He looked fucking terrible striking against Belal... but at best i would guess maybe he went from bad to serviceable, I can't see him ever being a nasty striker he just isn't that type of fast twitch athlete, or doesn't look it to me.

Brady will never be an elite striker, but that's not his goal and he really doesn't need to be. His problem previously (aside from his breathing issues that gave him shit cardio--but he had surgery and seems to have fixed that) was that he was even gunshy to strike to close distance. Shooting TD's with no setup can work vs lower ranked, overmatched guys. Not against top 10 guys. So he had to figure out how to strike just enough to close that distance and get ahold of guys. Which he did perfectly vs Leon.

This is a weird matchup because Morales anti-grappling vs an elite grappler is a complete unknown. He's big and athletic which is a good start, but nowhere near enough to shut down a guy like Brady. But maybe Morales has elite TDD or getups (or both). We just have no idea.

I'm gonna have $ on Brady because in matchups like this where the odds are relatively close, I always wanna be on the side of the guy who's proven himself as a grappler and knows that's his path to victory. The onus is on the unproven guy to show he can stop that elite grappling. If Morales is able to do it, the sky may be the limit. If not, he's young and will likely be a contender for quite awhile anyway but this just isn’t his time yet.

You're right on the dot.

With all due to respect to the main event, JDM isn't on the level of Shevchenko or Zhang prestige wise. He's a champion, yes, but his resume doesn't stack up to either one of theirs.

I see this going the same way 232 and 248 went: The co-main that should've been main (Cyborg vs Nunes, Zhang vs Joanna) delivers above expectations, while the main event just happens.

Come Saturday night, Islam will be celebrated by his fan boys, but the media will be all over Shevchenko and Zhang because they're stealing the show.

Great card, on paper it's probably the best card of the year.

Its a girl fight, brother. Sure, its the best girl fight they can make right now. But its a fucking girl fight.

I ask this because in the co-main event you have 2 champiosn that have been dominating their division for a minute, both big names, #1 vs #2 p4p and they both are like at the mount rushmore of WMMA. And yeah even tho they are women, they both are at the highest level when it comes to mixed martial arts period.

Now in the main event you also have 2 champions but it's all mainly about Islam moving up. Not disrespect to that ginger dude but it seems like he doesn't really have the name yet, he just got the title, hasn't beat many big names yet and it's quiet unknown compared to the others. Thats why I said this one is mostly about Islam?

Sincere thoughts ?

I love Val, but....

<DisgustingHHH> <DisgustingHHH> <DisgustingHHH> <DisgustingHHH> <DisgustingHHH>

I just don't know, hard to say.
I agree with what you said.
I think Brady has a small edge with his wrestling and having more experience.

The co main would have been alot bigger 5 years ago.

Still amped for it though.

No. You know it is possible to be a fan of WMMA and not be an idiot?

For me yeh, been waiting for Weili vs Shevchenko for years. 9.9/10. 10/10 would be if Shevchenko was a bit younger.

JDM vs Islam is 9/10 or 9.5. Islam vs Shavkat would be 10/10.

I think JDM vs Islam is more guaranteed to be a good fight, after how well JDM did making Belal strike. Weili vs Shevchenko maybe, maybe not.

Grasso finishing Shev
Rose finishing Weili and Joanna
