Is Steven Seagal legit?

How was the video I posted irrelevant to the thread?

I had a reason. The reason was to discuss the topic. I assumed that wasn't peculiar or imorral behaviour. Still do actually.

Who forced you to join this old thread anyway?

Well if you bothered to read the thread in the first place you'd know.
*immoral
The same person who forced you to add to it a year after it'd died a natural death.

Who decides a thread is dead?

How is a thread created 12 months ago 'ancient'?

I did read the thread. I don't know why you doubt this.

Nobody forced me here.....so nobody forced you here.

Going away seems like the most sensible thing you should do. Or stay and merrily discuss the many mad lies of Steven Seagal.

He's legit in the sense that some loud mouth drunk at a bar would get put in their place but compared to real fighters? No he would get fucked up pretty bad. Aikido isn't very effective against the well trained. Some bum throwing wild punches? Yes it will work if you're good enough.
So Judo and Karate, both of which he has a black belt ranking in as well, aren't effective?

Only the mentally retarded and the dumbest of the dumb think Steven Seagal is legit. The guy loves himself so much he probably sucks his own dick.

They give black belts to kidnergardeners at McDojo's. Black belts only mean you showed up to classes and could remeber some poses.

I read his background. Those credentials are very sketchy. I heard he harassed some guy until he just gave him the belt. I'm not saying its true, but hard to verify either way.

He's about as legit as a super narcissist, movie star, Aikido man can get. Does that answer the question?

He could fuck up a lot of people if he can get ahold of their wrist probably. Not UFC/MMA fighters though. The moves are too easy to escape in a real fight, especially against a trained fighter, like Bas Rutten explained years ago on his show (forget what its called). What's Seagal gonna do when he grabs your wrist with both hands and he can't defend his face from an incoming punch? Those slaps he does won't work against a trained fighter at all. You can't block punches from anybody that's trained the way Seagal does it, he does movie blocking techniques ffs, it doesn't work. He'd end up like Koji Oishi did when he fought Nick Diaz, KTFO. Aikido could work if you adapt it to a real fight correctly. There's useful techniques in every martial art but it's not the martial art, it's the martial artist. Aikido by itself is not going to win you a fight against anybody in the UFC, that's for sure.

Yep. I had a shotokan karate purple belt at age 13 and I couldn't even do a push up.

Yeah if you give him your wrist and do nothing, he can fuck you up :D

Pretty much. There's other things they teach you in Aikido, like a standing armbar but your back is to your opponent then. Against any trained fighter, putting your back to your opponent is just a bad idea no matter what. There's strikes you learn in Aikido as well, but my knowledge of that is lacking so I can't say much about that. I've only seen what Seagal does and it's like slaps and kicks, but it wouldn't be very effective against a trained fighter, again. If the techniques are adapted correctly then sure, but Seagal himself is not doing any damage, lol, maybe some other Aikido specialist that's in better shape and has learned other effective martial arts and they mixed their Aikido skills with it and adapted it to real fighting and such, but that's easier said than done. It's like that in all martial arts, especially traditional martial arts. There's specific martial arts like muay thai, boxing, kickboxing, BJJ, wrestling, sambo, etc, they are known to work in real fighting, but with karate, TKD, etc, it can be effective but it depends who you're learning from most of the time nowadays.

There's so many "McDojo's" out there where it's supposed to be 'fun' instead of actually learning. The reason it's like that is because actually learning karate, TKD, etc, it's not easy to do, just like boxing, muay thai, etc, is not easy. Actually learning to fight takes a lot of dedication. The old martial arts movies created these McDojo's because people saw their favourite movie martial artists beating everybody's ass, so it opened up the market for these lame ass fake schools and made it fun because if they were really learning these martial arts, many people wouldn't go back because it's harder than they thought it would be. Firas Zahabi explained it very well. In my opinion, Aikido is too easy to defend against. You need to get a hold of your opponents' wrist/arm to do any damage, but in a real fight that's not exactly easy to do unless your opponent is stupid. Odds are you're gonna get cracked in the head long before you can get control on their wrist and fuck them up with some wristlock or some shit.

This is why BJJ and Sambo are great. You don't just grab their arm standing up, you take them down, completely out of their element and fuck them up from top position or from your back if they get on top of you. I don't know if Aikido really does much in those aspects (on the ground), I just think those techniques by themselves would get you killed in a real fight because just reaching for an opponent (moving your arms away from blocking your head) is dangerous. Like Bas Rutten said, Aikido is just too easy to defend against and if they get a hold of your wrist/arm, how are they gonna stop you from punching them with your other hand? There's too many holes in Aikido by itself in terms of defense. Again, I'm not all that knowledgeable in Aikido n shit so I'm likely missing a lot of things about it, but against an MMA fighter? especially somebody in the UFC.. the Aikido guy gets killed, especially Seagal, both when he was a skinny as fuck and today where he's fat as fuck.

I watched a video yesterday that verifies pretty much everything you just said.

No my comments were in response to someone saying that it is insecure to not trust Steven Seagal.

If it appears off topic to you I don't know what to suggest.

Maybe look at it again and have a good think?

So you admit you blundered off topic and remain as such?

My respect for Segul is steadfast, so be vanquished young dolt.

He’s spent his entire life mastering martial arts.
Just because you make movies doesn’t take that away and all of a sudden you suck.
People say the same about Bruce Lee. Total bad ass too.

No doesn't mean yes.

You are the one going off topic.

I haven't been vanquished by a believer in Seagal's bullshido, don't be so silly :D

Seagal is a laughing stock and so are his believers. You support him without an ounce of shame because you are too stupid to see through his obvious bullshit.

You probably think Frank Dux is a legit badass too.

Wanna buy some land on mars? I'll give you a great deal if you act fast.

<{Joewithit}>

Yeah Bruce was a dangerous fighter. I saw this video of him having a real fight with someone and he...oh no wait.....that can't have happened because there is no video footage of him fighting anyone is there?

You just got to have faith right?

He spent his entire life lieing, beating on women, pushing around small people like liguazano and faking fake TMA belts.

Bruce lee trained hard and sparred pretty hard even if he wasn't ever a champion fighter he was way more legit than a lier that hid in the bushes from van damm AFTER talking shit.

Small joint manipulation and other TMA crap like that is bullshit.

Here hand me your arm and let me show you this pressure point if I'm set up perfectly and you remain still.

And it still doesn't work. We were having to do some self defense pressure point BS when I was in TKD, it absolutely didn't work and I showed the guest dude (he was some aikido asshat that new the owner) when they tried to "demenstrate" on me.

I said it was pointless , you have both your hands busy and I could knee the hell out of your head if I grabbed it and dropped you down in that position.

He said well most people would t know to do that. So I said ok get me down then with this wrist pinch crap WITHOUT me doing anything.

He couldn't be tried and tried and I just stood there telling him it was pointless.

I walked out of the session that day. I was pissed they waisted out training time on that.

I really learned how useless TKD and mcDojo karate I had done was when I moved to Thailand with my dad and started training there.

For the most part TMA is horseshit. Especially any mcDojo places.

There are still some decent karate and TKD etc places around by tthey are few and far between.

He married a chick who's father had a school and gave him self a fake high degree.

I'd knock his silly ass out
