Silly argument. MMA (and other sports with weightclasses) are literally crowning champs in each weightclass.

There's no celebrating the best midfielder in the world.

There is. Basically every league has awards for best on their position and every league have the best starting eleven award for the season. Even FIFA is crowning the best attacker, midfielder, defender and goalkeeper every season including best starting eleven.

He's the only 205 guy who's been the best LHW in MMA on 2 separate occasions.
When he won the PRIDE GP, and a few years later, when he healed his injury and beat the invincible undefeated RYOTO by decision & by KO.

Well, Jones obviously put an extreme beating on Shogun and had competitive fights with DC.

So going by a bit of MMA math, DC beats Shogun relatively easily.

You can add some asterisks there, Jones for PEDs and Shogun blew out his knee for about the third time in Machina 2 and after that became a flat footed brawler and lost all his speed, kicks and movement. You never again see the fluid movement and varied striking he has in the first Machida fight.

Oh God, no, but how sad would that be if it he was? The goat had a 10-12 UFC record and his only impressive win was Lyoto Machida.

If you're basing it entirely on his Pride career, then I'd say that's a pretty damn big asterisk if your good results are in the rampant PED org, then are suddenly out of your prime at 26.

I'd say all the blown knees had the biggest impact no one ever comes back the same especially with his style.
