Selfish? Fuck no. I always put my interests above anybody else's and am only willing to divert from that if they have proven to me they are good for it and would do the same for me. Part of this is you need to be a good judge of character. It doesn't make any sense to put a shitty persons needs above your own unless they are direct family.
