Is Rumble the third greatest LHW of all time?

I would love to understand why CORMIER is #2 for you guys with that WEAK ASS resumé.

<36>

Your words and your list, dumbass. Nice try though.

Don’t be a bitch because you perpetually prove you’re an idiot.

Let me get that for you while you contemplate going back and finishing high school. That ass must be on fire, boy.

Aw, buddy boy. You're so pathetic and unoriginal that you have to try to steal insults? Dang. The list is from the OP, genius. I added Rashad and Forest.

Were you unaware that 4 out of the 15 on the list were the generation before Jon? Not applicable? Fuckin casual nerd. Is normal.

Rampage should be the #2 LHW ever, he's #3 in worse case scenario

Nah, he's criminally overrated. He beat a 38-year old Chuck Liddell who lost again months later to Keith Jardine then proceeded to get violently KO'd 4 more times before retiring. Then he struggled with Hendo in a 5-round war. After that, Anderson demolished Hendo in under 2 rounds.

He also lost to Forrest, Rashad and Machida (despite the bad judging), Jones, Glover, Bader, etc.

Other than Jones or DC he had the skills to take out any LHW legend. Other LHW had better resumes. It just depends are you speculating who beats who or overall accolades or both
I think this.
He would have arguably slaughtered anyone besides those 2; tho arguably would have been outpointed by a guy like Phil Davis.

Gotta be Jones at #1, and then probably DC or Shogun or Chuck or Wand at 2 - 5. Rumble was great, but he had a lot of quit in him.

Not by his accomplishments, but skill-wise, as TS has said, I think I'd put money on prime Rumble against anyone besides Jones and Cormier. Sadly, he fought at LHW at the same time they did. Yes, he had a weakness for being RNC'd, but Cormier was the only guy to do that to him at 205 or heavier. His weight cuts left his cardio suspect at lighter weights where that happened more often. No one ever stood with him for the entire fight and beat him, though.
Basically this, he was one of the best LHW talents we've ever seen and clearly better than everyone Jones beat in his second LHW title run.

Honestly I think his career path is more like Shoguns were his biggest peak was back in Pride and he came back via a narrower but well tailored gamelan to certain opponents.

Pride Rampage with wins over a younger better Chuck, Randleman, Igor, Arona, etc.

It was a good showing; I'm saying the method to victory over him would be on pts and/or a 5rd fight.
I absolutely love Johnson; I'm just acknowledging that it's funny how he could literally end the career of even the best legends when anyone was trading with him in striking, but could in theory have been outpointed by the right gameplan and was never tested late into championship fights.
Never fought a 4th or 5th rd in his career, and only once went a full 3rds at LHW in the UFC against Davis, who was his closest fight outside DC and Jones. (tho much of that being his own doing via brutal early KO win)

MW Vitor handled LHW rumble with ease.

  • Rumble came in 12 pounds overweight and had an obviously awful cut. He didn't belong anywhere below 205
  • That fight had the worst stand-ups I've ever seen. Rumble took down Belfort a couple of times and started to control him and the ref stood them up almost immediately. I think Rumble just kind of threw in the towel after that--like he did after that very questionable "eye poke" that Koschek made a huge deal about.
Let them fight after that at 205 and I'd put money on Rumble.

Yeah, I think that was probably his best version, but he also got finished by Wand (twice), by Shogun and Sak, had a close fight with MW Lindland, etc. He had some great ups and some downs in Pride, but I wouldn't call him an all-time #3 based on that, either. The Arona win was a bit questionable as the headbutt seemed to do most of the damage (whether intentional or not).

I've always found it hard to place a clear #2 at LHW. You got a few guys in the mix with Shogun, Liddell, Wand in there. All of these guys have accomplished a lot, but they also have a lot going against them.

No, he was way too inconsistent. Choked in big fights and could get subbed by a turtle neck. That being said, he could have beaten everyone ahead of him or in the top 10, when he had a good night, he was a beast.

Wouldn’t have Shogun at number three, probably Wand or Rampage. Prime Rampage in the UFC was great, Wand and Shogun somehow reached their prime earlier or got “bad knees”.

RIP 'Rumble'. Awesome person. Fun fighter. Unfortunately he isn't even top five.
