I can't think of anyone that could beat him. From Fedor to weird style matchups like Semmy Schilt, I can't think of anyone that I would favor over the guy that steamrolled JDS.

No..and its not even debatable.

You think he was in his prime in like his 10th fight?
If anything he's gotten better. Decent strikes ,good wrestling and no submissions.

The ufc has formed a generation of mma fans opinions.

i'll comment after his next fight

but its a real possibility

Cain's striking defense is fucking awful.

That Kongo fight was on the feet for 5 seconds and Cain got badly hurt 3 times. He was obviously an amazing fighter but not as unbeatable as you're suggesting.

except Ronda...

under the right circumstances of course

Fedor would've been a favorite, prime CC would also have been interesting.

JDS was strong with ace TDD and a powerful punch, but very limited technically in other areas. His defensive footwork was atrocious and he had nothing against the cage or on the ground.

Prime Fedor > Prime Nog > JDS when he fought Cain.

In the cage I'd favour him even against prime Fedor - but not in the ring with real MMA rules. In Pride, I could imagine the prime versions of Nog, Fedor, Barnett and Werdum beating him

When was there ever a Prime Cain?

When he was being out struck by Kongo? When he beat sketchy Rothwell? Old Nogueria? Joke Lesner? Or Glass Chin On a Platter Bigfoot?

Cain is a very very good fighter, I'm not saying he isn't, but the idea of him being the greatest HW of all time and some sort of fighting God was all the usual Rogan B.S. Hype. He was the product of a very weak HW division and getting the fight the same opponents over and over and over again.

Cain isn't even the best HW in his own camp. The D.C. that won the Strikeforce Tournement demolishes Cain 10 times out of 10.

Lol no.
How is this myth still flying around?

He is (was?) a very very good fighter and he would be the favorite against most of the names in the history of the division but this god-tier BS was just hype.

I'm glad someone else notices this. Everyone says "Cain has the greatest boxing ever!!!!"

No Cain has very good punching, he has terrible foot movement, no head movement and his defense is completely no existent. Hell look at when he throws any punch, he leans right into every counter. He needs to spend 6 months with 2005 Dan Henderson a learn to keep that front hand planted directly on his own chin.

Pretty much everyone at AKA including Daniel himself say Cain wrecks him in practice.

He spent the entirety of round 2 vs Werdum standing in front of him and getting demolished in the standup.

To his credit, he has good recovery, but his striking defense is still just fucking terrible. This goes for "Prime Cain" too. He leaves himself so ridiculously wide open to eat a monster punch. I'm surprised it hasn't happened more often. He's still great, obviously. Wrestling and cardio like that is a sick combination. But people just overlook his flaws way too often.

It's also hard to evaluate him considering most of his career was him fighting 2 guys he matches up really well against.
