Is paddy pimblett the worst hype job since a long time ?

Sage had looks but people seem to forget that he also had an insanely intriguing combat sports type background - began at 4 y.o., 77 youth karate world championships, 4th degree karate BB, 3rd degree taekwondo BB, 15-0 kickboxer, wrestling background, etc. Dude was considered a prodigy by many. Plus he was 5-0 mma all finishes when he signed to the ufc.

So the hype that surrounded him was more like Nickal’s or Hardy’s in that it was about his raw potential and how far he might go. Plus I don’t think the ufc hyped these guys nearly as much.

With Paddy you have 23 fights to look at and while his record is ok it seems pretty obvious the current level of hype is way out of whack with his known mma skill set.

He was cut after winning 3 fights in a row, then had his face broken in ONE back in 2019 and hasn't fought since.

Brutal, I read about it , but hadn’t seen it…hit him hard enough to throw him into a flip…

Not sure he is being hyped.. he is just popular... a schtick that seems to sell... but if anyone was fooled by the fact he was one of the headliners... well, I think it is pretty obvious now where the kid sits...Gordon is a mid-card fighter that exposed Paddy... I suspect the UFC will respond in kind, and Paddy's next opponent is going to be a step or two down in quality.

He might not be a hype job due to his own making but he absolutely is one, it's an out of control monster caused by fans and UFC marketing, which in turn lines Paddy's pockets and makes him buy into selling himself that way.

ONE FC immediately fed him to Cosmo Alexander, who literally broke his face in the first round.

He went 6-2 in the UFC, and the UFC chose not to renew his contract while he was on a 3 fight win streak. He went to ONE championship for more money, only to get his face broken in 30 seconds in 2019. He hasn't fought since, though he still appears in a ton of promo content for ONE.

He never got cut from the UFC, and left on his own terms. The UFC just wasn't willing to pay him his market value.

He fought against a dangerous kickboxer who broke bones in his face. I don't remember the ruleset, it could have been MMA or possibly One MT with small gloves.
