I don't think he was saying the kicks didn't hurt. I believe he is saying the picture showing a bad bruise doesn't mean shit. As a pale guy I get bruises every time I spar or grapple but the way the bruise looks doesn't correlate to the pain I'm in at all.

I can agree to the bruise point. At some point, we've all woken up with one and went "how the fuck did I get this?"

In Roy's case though, we know why he has it and that's exactly why he's a tough sob.
