Is MVP sloppy?

I was more impressed with Mvps dancing than his fighting.

With the swagger he has I expected more of a statement.

Wish version of Adesanya

But .i would like to see him vs Steven Thompson. That would be fun

MVP is a fun fighter for UFC. To have next few years . I would save him for only ppv cards due to the entertainment factor same with Michel Pereria. Both bring added value to a live event.

MVP will never seriously challenge but could beca, great main card Staple several times a year.

I think people are going to get tired of MVP in the UFC pretty quickly. Super low output, a lot of running, and very susceptible to being held in the clinch. He was like 3 steps ahead of Holland, but never really went for the kill.

^ He's been competitive against Douglas Lima too, who's one of Bellator's best.

Committing to things in a big way that look like they should be impossible is a big part of his game

What are these impossible things? The main thing he throws is that leap in 1-1. That ain't anything impossible. It's literally the main attack in point karate lol. His kicks are pretty normal too.

People really shitting on MVP for not finishing a guy who's chin has never been cracked by anyone?

Holland ate a bunch of shots last night that would have finished a lot of other fighters in the division.

He visibly wobbled Holland a bunch of times where you could see his legs go but he recovered super quick each time.

"But Wonderboy finished him". Sort of. Holland quit in between rounds 4 and 5 due to this broken hand and the prolonged beating he took.

And that fight was closer than most remember now. Holland had a lot of success against WB early, both fighters came out of that one a mess.

Against MVP he had no success whatsoever. Should have been an easy 30-27. MVP had him hurt badly in round 2 and a minute of top control doesn't negate that.

To me, the term sloppy may be operationalized as: awkward + imprecise.

MVP is awkward but he is extremely precise. True, this fight had more stumbles and falls than two walruses going at in in a bar but he also landed very effectively.

A major flaw in his game is his susceptibility to leg kicks upon entries. This is much harder to exploit because of his distance management and range with punches but once he is timed, a good striker might end him again.

Impossible was maybe a stretch lol but you know what I mean. His timing, distance, precision and unpredictable repertoire of attacks is difficult to anticipate and prepare for

Ah, that sort of stuff. Thought you were more talking about the stuff that Michel Perriera used to do or something lol. The backflips and shit.

The tornado kick MVP done back in Bellator was nuts though. And it actually finished the fight.

I think he was looking for a highlight reel finish of a similar nature with that elbow he landed a couple of times, that showmanship wins fans but might be his undoing in favour of just sound technical basics but things like that have won me over anyway

That was my first post in the thread, numbnuts.
The person I quoted literally thought "point fighter" means "he doesn't finish fights".
I mean, probably based on context considering you were talking about the fight where he just got a decision. No need to have a child like tantrum on a karate forum because you’re so superior in fighting knowledge to lowly plebs.

I thought he did quite well overall, ok sure it would have been nice if he got a highlight KO in his debut, but still to beat a guy like Holland 3-0 when he has a lot of UFC experience and has fought a lot of good guys is impressive.

The only thing I would say is it would have been great to have him come to UFC when he was 27, and not 37, I just don't know how much we are gonna get out of him. But anyhow there are some fun matchups that can be made. Thompson would be a good one

That may be the context if you have a double digit IQ, yes, but to anyone else, it wasn't. No one was havin a tantrum in here but you and the mongoloid with childlike reading comprehension.
It’s not about being a noob, it’s that you provided zero context and we’re talking specifically about his fight tonight which he did not finish. You’re the dense one, not being able to see that and getting worked up.

This whole thread is you being angry and thinking we didn’t know he did points karate. I mean they only said it like 4 times during the fight. Context is key.
