Is MVP sloppy?

MVP is definitely sloppy.

Dude has always punched himself right out of position. His style worked against cans and then it didn't against Lima, who wasn't a can.

Holland is pretty low level at everything, and MVP didn't look that amazing against him.

He's getting beaten easily as soon as he fights someone half decent in the UFC.

He makes me think of Raymond Daniels, who beat him in Karate back in the day. Fought and beat bums in kickboxing and then got completely annihilated every time he fought anyone decent, which wasn't often for a reason.

What about when he beat Lima, who wasn't a can?

He fought way smarter in that rematch. Lima was also in the process of falling off pretty badly at that point as well. Still a good win for MVP.

He wasn't even that entertaining in that, but it was probably the only time he's really impressed me.

Calling him a point fighter with that amount of finishes is stupid. Him finishing cans doesn’t make him a point fighter. Grow up.
Here we go. One adult telling another via the internet to grow up. Awesome way to make an argument.

We call him a point fighter because he started his career fighting semi-contact kickboxing or otherwise commonly known as point-fighting. This has nothing and I mean nothing to do with his finish rate in MMA or other combat sports for that matter. He could have a 100% KO rate and he would still be a point fighter by origin. What you're thinking of is called a decision fighter. You may use those terms interchangeably but point fighting really is a discipline just like wrestling is a discipline.

The sole qualifying criterium for being a point fighter is having participated in a semi-contact or point-fight. It's rather trivial really.

He's flashy but I've always thought of him as a precision guy, good defense and good accuracy. Due to him slipping a few times I'm arguing with a friend that says he's sloppy. What do y'all think?

Well, he has been a point fighter for most of his career, and he is what, over 35 now? Things are bound to slow down due to age and wear and tear, ligaments, muscles etc

Of course he is not as sharp as he was in his point fighting prime.

Committing to things in a big way that look like they should be impossible is a big part of his game, it can lead to sloppiness but overall he has been very effective with it. I don't care where he goes in the division as long as he delivers entertaining fights. He's just arrived and already his entry into the middle slot of a main card ppv makes it exciting and legit as an event, have to treasure that while it lasts as not many have that level of presence and charisma in there

I dont like him but he's quick as shit. The problem I had is he could land that right hand seemingly at will but really didnt follow that up w anything. If he had that,he could finished this fight.
i agree. it was just all single punches and it was frustrating to someone who wanted to see him have a good showing his first time in the big leagues. Now Petr Yan? THAT was a pleasure to watch.

It’s not about being a noob, it’s that you provided zero context and we’re talking specifically about his fight tonight which he did not finish. You’re the dense one, not being able to see that and getting worked up.

This whole thread is you being angry and thinking we didn’t know he did points karate. I mean they only said it like 4 times during the fight. Context is key.
That was my first post in the thread, numbnuts.
The person I quoted literally thought "point fighter" means "he doesn't finish fights".

You kids need to learn how to read.
No brother, I see the straws you're trying to grasp at. We all know he meant point karate, you can feign being the over literal dork, but you're only fooling your own ego to soften the blow. Pushing down the shame and doubling down doesn't work when you're alone remembering how you doubled down on an online karate forum.

Edit: liking my posts after responding 🤔 are you ok?
