Is Merab the current most respected Champ.

I saw where D.C. mentioned his respect of Merab Dvalishvili as champ. With recent accomplishments. Who is the most respected champ? I'd personally give Merab his flowers. I like a champ who can absolutely take over a division before jumping weight classes. Islam is my second most respected in those terms.

I think the Umar and Sandhagen wins have won a large portion of the casuals over despite not being the most dynamic finisher.

He's also a legit wild mfer, I think he's appropriately respected and acknowledged for being a special talent

He also throws lots of strikes, he doesn’t have much power so it’s hard for him to finish, he’s also quite small so it’s hard for him to keep opponents down for extended periods to get a submission.

Normally I wouldn’t be, but Merab sets a wicked pace. If he had the power to finish fights everyone would love him.

I can’t claim to be some massive fan but you have to respect him and what he’s done. He’s about to defend his belt for the fourth time in a year, most guys don’t even fight four times a year let alone four title fights. Maybe not the most entertaining fighter out there but he’s a great champion and seems to be a pretty chill guy as well.

Pretty much this. The guy uses the skills he has and has beaten everyone infront of him decisively since 2018, on top of being VERY active and a pretty funny guy, it easy to see why people like him. If you don’t respect what he has accomplished, it’s your own biased more then anything. I do agree Alex is the most respected tho.

I would actually compare him to Mighty Mouse in terms of "respect". Everyone knows about him, but he is definitely not most respected champ. He is more like chill guy than "feared" person.

Most respected are probably Islam / Pereira / Khamzat, atm...
