Is Megan Anderson overrated?

She still beat Takayo Hashi, Raquel Pennington, Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes in that order and finished all of them. Not bad for "Rousey level striking" and "really bad" fight IQ. She's definitely got a decent fight resume.

She beat all of them with grappling though. And those were scrappy 2013 WMMA clinch-infested grappling heavy type fights. My point remains. Her record looks pretty good because some of the names she has claimed (albeit early in their careers) her skillset and ability are limited and her striking is a step above Rousey's only coz she actually kicks.

I think Cat has regressed and actually become much worse in the past few years. She peaked against Nunes.
If her gameplan against Ronda was different, that could have been a good fight.

But in her last two fights she looked very soft, slow and sluggish, wildly swinging and not fighting smart.

Cat said Nunes ruined her thyroid for life in that fight. Not being able to control your weight as well is one of the many shitty things that could come with that. Not to mention her husband committing suicide and having to press on from that not only as a person, but as a single parent, and as a professional athlete.

Having serious thyroid issues as a professional athlete is pretty much a career killer. I hope she bounces back after her eye injury and just take smaller fights or go to another org and can crush to make some money for herself and her kid before she retires.

I didnt even know she fought. I thought she was an ig model that did some mma training to stay in shape

Meaning the weight cut caused her thyroid issues? Or her actually thyroid gland got fucked up during the fight?

She is overrated, and her looks are even more overrated.
TBF yet again, the UFC does not have any meaningful program for fighter development. These competitors are supposed to enter this game on their own dime & find & access their own training resources. Fertile ground for the Edwin Tarverdyan debacle... which MMA observers jump up & cry in symphony; "How could this happen?" Answer in the huge operational void left by the UFC.

What the UFC & with media in tow, have is HYPE.

KarateStylist's call is that Megan was over-Hyped, HELLO conor.

Who gives a shit if she beat them with grappling? You said she was overrated and every argument I have made you have countered with these excuses lol. It's clear you don't like Cat and don't see her as a legit fighter and that's fine. I think she is a good fighter despite her recent outings and will continue to watch her fight.

The other dimension of these competitor found wanting is... TRAINING. Unpopular as I am, there are indications of training resources in these postings which moderately to greatly exceed the all too familiar "Punch-a-Hole-in-His-Chest" thematic.

That too of course.

I'm with ya. I like Megan. She's decent and puts in a good effort. Needs some real back up in the training room. Sent Holly Holm's game plan to the ground, remember?

When Holly is out grappling you, it's definitely time to make some adjustments.

Yeah, I'm not so down on Holly's grappling. And Megan's where Megan is at. Anyone can say she should do better. The whole sport should do better.

she's hot at least
define ''Hot''

although, she could probably have more success at defending a championship win here, than he did in the octagon.

The reason I pointed out that she won with grappling was because you tried to counter my argument about her being a bad striker by bringing up some of her TKO wins. So I was only reminding you that those wins had nothing to do with her striking. Anyways I don't dislike her as a person, I just don't think she's that good as a fighter. And one of the best displays of her fight IQ was her tactic against Rousey. Listen to her explaining it herself and you'll see why I criticize her IQ. Anyways, she seems like a really cool person, I follow her IG. Also, I definitely would. Do you know her personally because you're being way too defensive whenever I criticize and you're almost in denial that she isn't that good. Be honest.

I don't know her personally but I can relate to what she's gone through.

Over rated at the time people were talking about her being a possible contender against Cyborg? No, people were saying she only had about 2 years of MMA training at that point but they were excited about her size and her potential.

3 years later? Yeah, she seems to have regressed in training and skills. She squandered her potential and covered her size in ink. Anyone who thinks she's a contender against Cyborg with less skills than she had when they were talking about a green Megan is certainly overrating her. But after the last 2 fights thats not a lot of people rating her that highly.
