Because I haven't been able to find chalk. And my grip starts to slip on the heavier sets. Due more to sweating than the weight. BUT I lliterally have access to all the free blackboard chalk I want (I'm a teacher) So my question is, will it do the same thing? Because I hate using gloves. This way I avoid the possible problem of chalk in the gym, if it turns out it won't do the trick.

Anyone have any input?

i buy a bunch of TUMS and just put them in the blender.
the color lets people know im AFFA.

anyway, im sure chalk is chalk ts

No, it's not at all the same. I assume you've already tried "fitness stores". Try outdoorsy type stores - they'll often carry chalk for climbers. If not that, order some online, it'll be plenty cheap. If nowhere else, you can order it off amazon. If you can't afford chalk, you've got troubles.

I'm with Tosa. I got a block of chalk from an outdoors store at the start of the year for $4. It gets used almost every day (whether by myself or other gym members who I permit to use it) and I've still got plenty left.

Ok cool. I kind of figured this. Because it doesn't seem to keep my hands dry, it kind of turns to mud.

I do have some good news. I found chalk on taobao (chinese ebay) and it is pretty cheap.

That's good. I need to get some myself, been meaning to for ages. I will probably have to get liquid chalk though.

I think chemically it is magnesium carbonate.
I buy mine at REI, you can use any climbing store to get the stuff. I bought two bags for like 13 dollars almost a year ago and am still going strong.

Also if you're in an outdoors or climbing type shop looking for chalk, see if you can find a chalk ball, instead of just the pre packaged loose stuff. Basically a small rag ball filled with chalk. Very gym friendly, leaves a lot less mess.

I hear you can buy stuff off the internet now.

Anyway, real men use the dried blood of their enemies.

Looks like I am getting chalk, AND grippers. At least they look legit, and claim to go up to 350lbs.

Big chunk of chalk is gonna cost me like 14 RMB, like$ 2.30

Get Rosin. You can buy it in stores that sell violins, cellos, etc. I am betting 3/4 of the kids you teach are taking music lessons, I bet you can find it.

$2 of lifting chalk lasts me about a year.

I don't think you need to start stealing blackboard chalk from the local elementary school to swing this, dude.

I wouldn't be stealing. The school uses whiteboards now. It literally has a cabinet full of chalk that will never get used. Just wondered if it was the same thing or not.

Yep. Chalkboard chalk is usually gypsum (calcium sulfate) which is the same stuff that is in drywall.

I use liquid chalk that I unwittingly bought off an online poledancing supplier.

Still works:D
