Yeah I read, I was just skimming through though bc it wasn’t very interesting. You lost me when you used the stupid acronym in a sentence prior to explaining it. Why do we need a JGF? The greats are GOATs; everyone else is a can or a good fighter. Some good fighters knock on the door of greatness, but never quite get there. In your list, you mixed good with great. Who the fuck puts Yan and Aljo in the same category as BJ and Khabib?

Luke Thomas, who I normally can’t stand, explained the difference between good and great. Chael was one such example, and he got butt hurt at Luke bc he said Chael was never great. Good, but not great. Nuance is lost on your generation. Why does everything you like have to be the greatest?

The GOATS are great but not necessarily the other way around. There are levels to being great. The GOATS are the best of the best. I was talking more about mentality as well as skill. I agree about Chael and also your point that great is used to much in this generation (i'm in my 50's). Yan and Aljo would be top current fighters and BJ (prime BJ) and Khabib would be GOATS. In my opinion Yan is more than just a good fighter. Aljo is champion and his win over Sandhagen is looking better all the time. The whole idea of the thread was to shine light on guys who fight the best and want to be the best even if they fall a little short. Too much nonsense in the sport with social media and ratings jockeys. The 'JGF' wants to be the best and be challenged by fighting the best.

A guy like Mike Perry used to be popular on here. Should a guy that brings his girlfriend in to corner him matter that much? I would say JGF is better for this sport. JGF is just great fighter. Those are the fighters that are the best, try to be the best and fight the best. The importance of striving to be champion is of utmost importance. Give me Chuck, Tito, Randy, BJ, Khabib, Jon Jones, Cormier, Yan, Aljo, Sandhagen and all the rest. You guys can have your Mike Perry.

Perry is good and his approach doesn't appeal to you, that's fine. I didn't mind it. However, he wasn't particularly successful during his time in the Octagon.

I would consider Michael Chandler a more rounded out version of a JBG. Chandler represents that title in a much more successful way.
