Is it time for Lyoto to start cutting weight ?

I thought Machida probably already does this for MW?

Surely he walks around at like 200 lbs before he cuts no?

Machida ain't a small dude. I really dont see how he makes 170. He's already really lean at 185. Weidman really is that good, Machida is probably #2 at MW.

i agree with everything here. machida gave weidman a great run--i could see him getting another shot, but the window is closing.

Since dropping to MW he has been the Best challenge to Weidman, earned 2 fight of the nights, 1 KO otn and a record of 2-1.

It aint broke, don't fix it.

can you show the interviews please?

Forget interviews - watch his LHW weigh in against Heath. Machida weighed in at 199lbs !

Why would he drop 6lbs more than he needed to if he was cutting weight ?

I'd like to see him fight his way back to another title shot against Weidman, or whoever happens to be champion at the time. He only came up short, but he can beat Weidman, and I think he will if he sticks around long enough.

I don't think you guys are understanding the OP. I'm saying Machida needs to bulk back up to around 200lbs and cut weight to 185lbs the day before the fight. This is what Weidman and most other middleweights do.

My mistake, I stopped at the thread title. I assumed (wrong obviously) that that's what this thread was about because Machida to 170 seems to be a fairly popular although unrealistic sentiment.

As far as Machida bulking up is concerned, I'm not sure how that would help his game at all. Being faster than his opponents has always been his strongest suit, and he has plenty of KO ability as it is. Bulking up would probably slow him down and lead to him getting hit more often.

Pretty sure you're referring to an interview where he was mid weight cut and said he was currently 190 pounds like 3 days before the fight.

You won't find sources because TS is full of shit and this is just a not so thinly veiled excuse thread for Machida losing.

HERE IS A QUOTE FROM MACHIDA AFTER WEIGHING IN AT 201lbs AGAINST BADER !

"Following the weigh-ins, Machida explained when speaking to Fuel TV that he

Was being out-sized even a problem for him vs Weidman? Doubt it. He just lost to a better man who's in his prime. I still pick Lyoto over any other middle weight on the planet.

Why are you looking for solutions when there is no problem? This is dumb.

You Machida boys are chasing a ghost.... A Machida that is good enough to win a belt no longer walks this earth. Even Machida at 170 doesn't win the belt, 155 then maybe but 6'1 155 is stick figure Dragon.

In fairness most of Machida's notoriously difficult fanbase has ceded that Weidman is the better fighter. I'm surprised there aren't many more of these threads to be honest.

Why do you guys keep bringing up 170lbs ? I'm not suggesting he drop to WW.
