The basics are often the most effective thing in combat sports, so I'm not sure what you're getting at. Nothing wrong with being basic, if it gets the job done, then that's all that matters. Eddie is a damn good fighter, one of the very best LW's in the world and has been for years. He isn't winning all of these fights against amazing fighters for no reason.
