Is Dustin Poirier a better fighter today than he was on Sept. 7th 2019?

I think his peak was between then and now. I think we are witnessing his inevitable regression today, and holistically currently he matches his 2019 self overall.

I thought he stunned Khabib with a punch in their fight. I’d be willing to bet the same punch would have badly rocked or KO’d Islam
Been a while since I watched the slow motion gif but I don't remember Dustin even catching him clean? It was more about Khabib's funky footwork than him being rocked.

I think Dustin is at least better mentally now than he was then which can help tremendously.

As far as Islam.. I think Islam is more skilled than Khabib was then, but Khabib seemed more durable. That could work out in Dustin’s favor.

That being said, Islam by mauling.

Dustin is probably not much better overall, but better mentally having faced Khabib already

Islam is waay better, his striking is coming way up. And with the TD threat he always posseses, his striking is deadly now

I think it will just depend on whoever makes a clear hit the first will win in this fight. If Dustin can sneak his right jab, the right will follow and put Islaam down. And it will only need just one hammer fist to secure the win.

For Islam, he will attempt the takedown if he can duck the right jab and from there he can control the fight in r1 and maybe choke Dustin.

But most probably this fight will be head to head standing which Dustin has the advantage.
