What do think about this post?

If true, how many interim champions have been in this situation?

You know what, if you're the interim champ and you beat the champ, it should count as a title defense because:

1. You're facing the best guy in the division at the time.
2. It's not your fault that you fought for an interim belt rather than the real one. The champ was unavailable to fight, but you still stepped up and fought.
3. If you lose, you're no longer the interim champ. You're not a champ at all. So you are risking your own title in this fight.

A lot of folks aren't gonna like this though because this would apply to Conor.

Nah, you have to beat the champion. Defenses only count once you are undisputed.

Also, Adesanya's case was a bit different than usual since GSP vacated and Rob was promoted to champ. Regardless, unifying shouldn't be a title defense.

I fully agree. Can't "unify" belts if both aren't on the line.

That would just be semantics, not sure the actual facts would change that much lol. But for the sake of knowledge, I approve of this endeavor.

I've always thought of unifying as the same as a defense

@Buff Because his fruity fans are starting to realise he's never coming back, his legacy is down the trash, he's irrelevant to the title picture, and this is their way of asserting him into conversation

There weren't rubies back when Conor was champion so it's total nonsense.

His fans are super fruity. I went on his twitter earlier for some other clown ass thread.

3 types of people on his twitter.

The sentimental

The "funny"

And the sad:

It basically is because he could've fought Aldo first and defended against Mendes. Chad could've been a replacement, just like Iaquinta, for example. Face a top 3 guy twice in a row, both title fights. It's as good as a defense.

Technically it is a title defense, but the general public won't view it as such. Depends on the opinion, I view it as a defense since they had a belt they were fighting to defend. They were champion status even if it's interim champion. A champion is a champion. Of course unifying the belts and being undisputed is the highest level of championship status. In boxing champions are still champions, but they do have goals of becoming undisputed and unifying the belts.

Superfan McgregorRousey has no defense for that name, let alone that train of thought.
