Is Caio Borralho the next MW champ?

No way! He's probably the least impressive guy on fight nerds team. He went life and death with Canonier which means he isn't ever going to sniff a title shot ever

When I compare him to DDP and Khamzat (future champs/possible champs) I just don't know if he beats either of them.

Dude looks like a bridge troll, or an elf or something with his pointy ears. Maybe they could cast him in Lord of the Rings as an orc. But nah I don’t think he’ll be champion.

Yes he's Champion material.

Put him against Adesanya and then BOOM, titleshot.

Caio is like a prototype for a fighter Khamzat is going to have trouble with. A very solid grappler who is physically imposing.

Lots of guys are better strikers than Khamzat, Caio certainly is, but Khamzat generally enjoys being the bigger guy. Not here.

Fight Nerds are the most interesting team in the sport right now and I'm generally interested in all of them fighting top 5 name brand opponents in the next year.

Exactly. He has a lot of the same qualities that Burns had that gave khamzat issues, except he's FAR bigger than burns.

IDK.

Cao Barralleo vs Deshaun Strickerland would be a good fight.. but I think deshaun is fighting Bobert Weetaker

he's not as good as Burns at BJJ and lighter weight class guys tend to be more skilled in general, Whittaker was hailed as this great anti wrestler and we saw he didn't have much resistance to the grappling of chimaev so I wouldn't trust caio's grappling against chimaev either

He isn't as good at BJJ as burns, sure, but he's still the next best BJJ guy Khamzat would have ever faced, certainly better than Whittaker. He's also the biggest guy khamzat would have ever faced, and size matters a ton in grappling, which is the reason why these huge ass weight cuts came from wrestling, and it's the reason why khamzat killed himself to make WW. To put things in perspective, we've seen Burns out wrestled by a 5'6 LW in the UFC. Can you imagine that happening to Caio? The size difference is huge and very important when comparing these guys. Caio's also a better striker than burns and has arguably better wrestling than burns to go with his good BJJ. Most importantly, he has first hand experience training with khamzat for a while, both at xtreme and in sweden. He wouldn't be caught off guard.

If people don't see how he'd be a tough match up for Khamzat, then I don't know what they've been watching.

I don't remember his BJJ being that good in his UFC matches against notable people, I know he beat brendan allen in a grappling comp so he's good but I can still see him getting smothered on the fence. Striking is in his favour though especially if chimaev hasn't improved it at all so it can definitely be a tough match if he drags it into later rounds.

I've seen burns out wrestled by a 5'6 lightweight. In MMA, Burns has never really outgrappled good grapplers. Can you imagine Caio being out wrestled by a 5'6 lightweight? I'm just again highlighting how important the size difference is here. Caio has a judo background, is a bjj black belt who came up under Demian maia, is a big MW, and has looked good in nearly every grappling scenario we've ever seen him in. And again, he knows Khamzat's game well.

We can disagree, but personally, I think he's probably the worse match up in the division for khamzat.

I think Conor is, when his presidential election fails, and he comes back to mma from retirement, is the next champ.

Honestly I think he's probably the best all round fighter of the quartet. He may not be as wild or flashy as the others but I think Caio is the one most likely to be a champ

MW is starting to stack up with guys in line for a title shot. It's insane to me if they didn't do Izzy or Strickland rematch we could've had DDP vs Khamzat/Caio/Imavov by now. If only it was a real sports league because that's what we would've got. I'm starting to hate WWE fans.

Caio beats Imavov in my opinion and would also be stylistically difficult for Khamzat.
