Is Brendan Schaub so bad fighter as people acting or is it just hate ?

Welcome to the Schaub Era

People tend to fear the new breed.

Abu Schaubi is, indeed, the new breed.

For a former football player he is pretty damn good and has the power to beat anyone. Unfortunetly, anyone at he can crack that chin just as easily

It's not really hate just people making fun of him for the Metamoris gig.

There's literally a dozen things to dislike the guy for. Different people dislike him for different ones. I don't like how disrespectful he has been to opponents both before and after fights. In his first fight in the UFC that did count, against Nelson, he got KTFO. Then he beats a couple of less than top tier opponents, and says he's tired of knocking out fat guys and to give him a real opponent, less than a year removed from being starched by a fat guy. This is after a stint on the show where he made a not so great impression. So, he started out as a punk and kept it up. At times ratcheting up the prick quotient. He also doesn't have the skills to compete at the top. His chin is extremely vulnerable, just look at him in the Johnson fight, he knows his chin isn't going to hold up. TUF, the fat guys comment, etc were the cake and since then he's been putting the icing on the cake. He's not devoid of skill, but he is not top 10 and will never make a real title run. Cain, JDS, Cormier, Big Foot, Browne, Barnett, Miocic, Nelson, Overeem, Werdum, Hunt, Jordan, and probably half a dozen others I just can't come up with off the top of my head all open as favorites, and some of them I give him no better than just a puncher's chance against, if that. He has spent years building up the feeling against him, he'll never become a fan favorite. He can't go fan to fan having a pleasant interaction. His fate is sealed, he may make a decent living being a gatekeeper for a while, but he should just be happy to keep fighting in the UFC. He has the skills to stick around, but not to be a legitimate contender.

He is full of himself, Not very likeable. Book him against JDS. :icon_chee

Hate coupled with sherdog's hive mind.

Shaub is in the position that Bisping was in (and to a lesser extent still is in) not long back. Where people predict him to lose every fight he signs for, no matter the the level of competition. You're also likely to see gifs of him getting knocked out in every thread too.

Schaub gets way too much schit for this. It takes two to tango. If the other dude wants Brendan to come to the ground, and he won't come to the ground, drag his ass down there. Oh, can't do it? Well, cry me a river.

Wasn't a great performance by Schaub, but Cyborg didn't do shit either. They are both complicit in the shittiness.

P.S. How many Brazilian fighters nicknamed "Cyborg" are there? More than named "Pitbull"?

Long before that, I can remember everyone pretty pissed at him that he was fighting nog after he beat cro cop.

Old Pride fans tried to make the claim that UFC was feeding Schaub over the hill Pride fighters to build him up. When Nog KOed him people dumped on Schaub claiming he was a can that even an over the hill Nog could beat.

I looked on forums for months and people seem to underestimate Schaub and make some jokes. But people forget that he is 6-2 in UFC and lost with Big NOG after beating his ass for 3 minutes. Nogueira barely resisted and most likely he would have been finished if there wasn't that lucky moment for Nogueira.Nogueira managed to outstrike WERDUM, but his ass was kicked by Schaub. I think this fact say a lot about Schaub and his skills. And he got caught by Rothwell (also he beat up rothwell until he got ko'd). His fight with nelson was in TUF and was his first year as a MMA FIGHTER.

WHAT is that bad about his record or about him, as a fighter?

I found him to be a good and all rounded fighter. Skills wise he is definitely a top 10 in my book.

6-2? The nelson fight counts. You can't pick and choose which fights to "accept" on a fighters record like that.

Sherdog is a bastion of groupthink.

In before the same Schaub joke is retold 100 different ways, each in its own dull way.

group think is merely an extension of repeating what the cool kids said in pre school

Have I noticed you being an apologist for nearly all things American, Rex, or am I noticing incorrectly?

I really don't think you should defend Schaub here. You don't go rabidly running for doubles in no gi tourneys, and Schaub would only have continued to run if Cyborg did decide to compromise himself in this way. How many times has this happened in a no gi tourney? Schaub had no intention of scoring points, only stalling. Put this situation in any other sport and it would be just as unacceptable.

What I think is that Schaub does have real potential. I don't like how he strolled in with his obnoxious athlete persona and thinks he can call the shots and talk so boldly about rankings and skill but, no doubt, he is hella strong, fast, co-ordinated and learns quickly. Whether he can avoid the big HW shots and whether he is game will determine how far he goes.

sherdog makes fun of him, not hate. well, maybe some grappling purist does..

He's pretty decent. Not great, but decent enough to win some, lose some.

I'm a fan of his as a fighter and a character.

I agree with the first part of this.

I'm not a fan but he's not a bad fighter, he's just not a great one either.
