Is Bisping the biggest gatekeeper of all time?

Dude will really test guys and can put up some great performances but always gets dominated against the elites

what does benavidez get categorized as? he can beat anyone in the division except the champ (in the ufc and when he was in the wec)

Ken-Flo fought for a title three times in two different weight classes and two of those losses were to two of the all time greats in BJ and Aldo, Kenny wasn't a gatekeeper but he was a choker. Benavidez has fought for the WEC and UFC Titles, he like his Alpha Male teammates just can't win the big one.

Bisping isn't a top contender, Jacare, Romero, Weidman are top contenders. Bisping is an 8-15 ranked fighter. Rockhold, Weidman, Jacare, Romero, Belfort, Machida, Mousasi, Kennedy and Anderson all beat him, Rockhold, Belfort, and Kennedy already have.

Guida beat Pettis and RDA who went on to win the championship eventually, wouldn't really call him a gatekeeper more of stylistic nightmare for some guys although the RDA fight was flukeish.

Bisping is ranked 6th on UFC site and has been top 10 for as long as I can remember. Maybe if you mean title shot gatekeeper? I guess a fair bit of titleshots have gone through his path

I always thought of gatekeeper being someone who shows if they are worthy of that top 15 fight, a much lower ranked fighter than Bisping.

You do not understand the term "gatekeeper" if you believe KenFlo was one

Bispings ranking is inflated imo. His only top 10 wins are leities & stann & I don't think either guy was ranked above #9. Belcher may have been top 10 when they fought but he wasn't high iirc

Florian fought for the title too many times to ever be called a gatekeeper.

My best example of a gatekeeper is Darren Elkins and Diego Brandao two decent fighters who haven't beaten anyone really good yet
 
Bisping is the highest profile gatekeeper because he is the best English MMA fighter.

He's had more publicity and high-profile matchups than perhaps skill would have granted had he been from say the USA.
 
Bisping is a guy who rarely gets a fair shake on here. He has wins over Leites, Dollaway, Uber Cung Le, Belcher, Stann, Mayhem, Sexyama, and he had close fights with Rashad and Chael Sonnen, yet he gets treated like a Cody Pfister.
 
Now thst the strike force mws hsve arrived, u can argue that Bisping is gatekeeper ish at 185...A gatekeeper is usually a veteran ranked 9-13ish who cant beat anyone in the top hslf dozen or so but usually handles anyone outside the top 10..

Yep, he might just be gatekeeper of the mw division...
