I've been keeping my eye on Berto for a while now, as have a lot of people... I think he has the potential to be a huge star. But where would people put him amongst the current crop of Welter's? I dont know if I'd back Berto to take Paul Williams. Then there's obviously Cotto, Margarito, Judah, Mosley, DLH, Collazo etc... Is he ready to be a champion amongst these men?

i'd like to see him fight judah

i wouldn't give him for than 4 to 1 against the likes of margotto , williams , Mosley at present

8 to 1 at best against cotto

but i have him 50-50 against judah and favorite against Collazo.

i really don't think beating Miguel Angel Rodriguez is enough for a title at one of the best division in boxing let alone the wbc which i always see the premier belt

I'd like to see Berto fight Collazo should he win the title.
    1) Coz i think it'd be a good test of his true credentials
    2) Collazo deserves another shot

Agreed and agreed. I hope Berto is serious when he says hes ready to step up, cause hes gonna be playing with some SERIOUS BIG BOYS in the WW division. For his sake I hope hes as good as he thinks he is.
Seems to have very good power, but havent seen much of his defense yet. Hes young though he could be a threat.

Berto is getting a bullshit title considering he's fought no one in the top 20 arguably in the division. Estrada was by far his toughest test. He's the future of the division, but not the current until he fights someone. So many people are up his nuts right now, it's kinda rediculous.

Judah is fast becoming a gatekeeper for the welterweight ranks. I'd like to see Berto in a fight with Cintron.

How the fuck is Zab a gatekeeper? Explain yourself.

    He has 5 career losses:

    Floyd (HOFer)
Cotto (titlist, #1 in the division)
    KT (HOFer)
    Baldo (champion)
Spinks (akward fucker, which he avenged and KO'd)

Not necessarily a gatekeeper, but Zab is the guy to gauge your skills if you are consider a top flight fighter.

Berto fights Collazo first. He could when that fight.

My boy Clottey would beat him. Zab might be able to blitz him in the first half of the fight.

  17. I gotta agree since I have been swingin by Bertos nuts for a while now. I dont think he is ready yet though. I think Judah beats him right now. Id like to see Cintron vs Berto to see where he is at.

I agree with seeing how he does against Collazo first. If he does well, then he should try Clottey/Judah- either one. Judah will have the speed and power over Berto, though.

Maybe not necessarily a gatekeeper, but he's shown that when faced with the top welterweights out there (and the division is LOADED with talent), that he's struggled.

    Pretty much what you said.

Berto can be huge if given the right amount of time to continue developing. He's good, and people are going to start crying about him being "protected" but he's not ready for the elite fighters yet.

Judah would be a good place for him to start testing the deep waters, though. The kid can bang, has good hand speed, and needs to tighten up his defense. Time will tell.
