Is 265 lbs weight limit right thing?

The UFC vets who they let in the organization, can kick out who they don't want. If someone is 600lbs and looks like he can't walk but wins fights somehow he should be able to. Boxing had Nikolai Valuev who was 7ft and 328lbs, there are some giants out there and would be fun to see them compete.

I see no reason to have a weight cap on the HW division. HW should be about finding the best fighter in the world, period. Not just the best fighter that can make 265.

Time and time again it is proven the best HWs are in the 220-250lb range. I see no issue with removing the 265 weight limit. Who gives a shit if there isnt much talent on the top end no one should have to cut to HW.

There are athletes that exist who are legitimately too big to cut to 265lbs while not being fat like Shaq was a legit 330lb in his prime, Valuev who was 7ft and had literal giantism was also around 330lbs as a HW Champion in boxing. But there's so few guys even most of the big NBA guys like Giannis is naturally about 250lbs or Myles Garrett of the NFL is only about 270.

Dwight Howard 6'10 and one of the more muscular tall men in the NBA is 260-270lbs

JJ Watts 6'5 288lbs NFL defensive end

Mijain Lopez Greco Roman 4x Olympic Gold medalist 6'5 300lbs (when not cutting, he gets a little soft)

Chiyonofuji arguably Japan's greatest Yakozuna in Sumo. 6ft 280lbs

These dudes could all make 265.

If they eliminate weight cutting as ONE FC did then the limit should be 310lbs without weight cutting and the minimum limit should be 235lbs or 240lbs. LHW should then be an effective real Light heavyweight and be a range of 205lbs to 235lbs or 205lbs to 240lbs

A non fat Shaq could of made 310lbs as could of a leaner Valuev. Boban is 7"4 and only 290lbs, and Semmy Schilt at 6"11 bulked up was only 290lbs to 300lbs. Struve at 6"11 was never heavier than 270lbs but he was always very lean. The 6"9 Strongman worlds strongest men weigh 380lbs to 450lbs but are carrying 70lbs of fat and tons of excess muscle on PEDs and cant sustain that weight for long. When competing 6"8 Brian Shaw would be 440lbs but now he is 380lbs still on PEDs though. Hafthor is 6"9 and was 450lbs peak but had health issues and risked dying at that weight and had no cardio. Now he weighs 320lbs to 330lbs while boxing and he is still carrying excess muscle. If he cut the PEDs he would be 300lbs or 290lbs is my guess.

So very very few men cant make 310lbs if they arent fat or on an obscene amount of PEDs. And if the limit became 320lbs then even Hong Man Choi could make it if he leaned out.

Maybe the rare Hong Mans are exceptions but few men are 7"3 with a large frame and propensity for muscle mass weighing over 300lbs. The NFL and NBA have only ever shown us Shaq and even then he was fat above 300lbs to a degree

But why should anyone have to cut to 265? This is a pretty silly argument, just make it open ended and move on with life. There isnt going to be many champions over 265 anyways.

It isnt stupid. An athletic commission and real sport will logically want a limit. It is a joke that boxing doesnt have one.

I agree size means less given diminishing returns but that still means you need limits.

LHW should be 205lb to 240lbs and HW 240lbs to 310lbs assuming we end weight cutting with hydration tests and day before and day of weigh ins.

Everyone can make 265 if they aren't on PEDs or ridiculously fat. The UFC bans PEDs and nobody wants to see guy that is 5'9 310 lbs. Even if you are 285 you can cut 20 lbs to make 265.

The only exception would be if there was a 7' + guy with a large build similar to a Shaq or Yao Ming, but those guys are crazy outliers never seen in MMA except for that crazy Korean with pituitary issues who was like 7'6. But even he sucked at fighting.

This is so true. Even Hafthor fighting now is 320lbs but still on the juice. Off it he would be sub 300lbs. If I was UFC I would eliminate weight cutting and make HW 235lbs or 240lbs to 310lbs. Then a non fat Shaq could make it and so could a non juiced Hafthor. Also Hong Man Choi is the giant korean and yeah he weighed 330lbs he wasent that juiced either. Maybe he could of leaned out to 300lbs.

If you are 285 you can easily cut to 265. If you are over 285 you aren't in shape enough to fight anyway.

All that being said, it's going to sound weird, but I say remove the limit. There really is no reason. If you wanna show up at 310 and gas out within 45 seconds, that's on you.

An in shape fighter should not be over 285, but I personally don't care if he is.

A 300lb guy can cut to 265lbs that is a lot but not as insane as a 30lb cut that a LHW does in terms of their overall relative mass. But 35lbs is likely the extreme. And Cormier did a 30lb cut before several times at LHW. And many LHWs have done 25lb cuts coming in at 230lbs

Kept some of the fat guys in some sort of shape, guys like Big Country and Hunt would've been over 300lbs if there was no limit.

What in shape athletes have cardio for 3 rounds and can't cut to 265lbs?
