PlayStation Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet (2027)

It's rumored that this game will grant players more freedom than their last few titles. Supposedly their inspiration comes from Elden Ring. Maybe that means we'll get to explore planets and come across some powerful enemies fairly early on. I always enjoyed games that do that. It's fun to be terrified of something early in a playthrough and then kill it later as you get stronger. Again, just a rumor though. Hopefully we get to see more this year. We know that Saros gameplay will be officially revealed this year. If both games release in 2026 that would be a solid year for Sony. That also means we could potentially be looking at a strong showcase this year if they have this title, Saros, Wolverine, Ghost of Yotei, etc.

Naughty Dog’s new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is not only fully playable internally – but it’s also “incredible”.

That’s according to the project’s potentially biased creator Neil Druckmann, who was speaking with IGN on the red carpet ahead of the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us, which premieres in April.

Earlier this week, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schrier implied on ResetEra that the PS5 exclusive won’t launch until at least 2027. While it’s worked on various ports and remasters in the interim, Naughty Dog’s last new game released in 2020.

But Druckmann has at least provided some hope that the project is progressing well.
“I will say we are playing [Intergalactic] at the office and it’s incredible,” he hinted. “It's really good.

But it’s got a bald Asian chick!

Woke something something grumble grumble!

D, updated title without asking for 2027 tentative launch; hope that was OK.

More like "Creator of game thinks it's great! That must mean it's great!"

Not that I doubt "Naughty Dog" to deliver, but Druckmann's praise of a game he's leading development on, is not exactly something to judge the game with. Of course he thinks it's amazing. I'm sure Todd Howard said something similar regarding "Starfield". We'll see.

Hope it's great. But it's not like I'd expect him to say "you know, it's kind of lackluster at the moment. Not bad, but not great either".
Didn't they just shut down a game they were working on because they felt it wasn't that great? If that's the case maybe it is actually good and they're not just lying to hype people up although that is probably part of it.

Excited to see what the gameplay looks like for this. I think I read somewhere that Elden Ring was an inspiration? That's an awfully big game with its own bunch of influences, so I am curious to see what ideas they pulled from it. A combat focused Naughty Dog game would be pretty cool, but them taking that Miyazaki-esque level design/world building would also be really interesting. I am hoping this industry trend of using Soulslike elements in games is reaching the point of creating new ideas off of it rather than copying and doing small tweaks like so many studios have been doing. It's lead to some awesome stuff (Lies of P for example), but I think after a bunch of devs around the world giving their take on the genre, someone ought to be bringing some innovative ideas to the table by now

No, they had a much crazier excuse for that one. Basically everything was good to go and then they were told what it would take to make it a GAAS game. They realized the game would become all they did. So they shut it down.

A few people in the gaming space have commented on it and everyone said it was very fun to play. Shu said he really liked it. I really don't understand why they wouldn't release it and get another studio to support it. My only guess is ND didn't want anyone else touching the game.

I think it'll be a good game just because ND hasn't let me down yet. I've thought all their games were at the very least good.

Even TLOU 2 was mechanically fantastic. The issue people had was with the narrative, not the gameplay. I would expect at least the same level here. Even if the narrative is bad for whatever reasons, it'll be sitting on top of a good game, more than likely. I doubt that it will be as narratively focused as TLOU2

I think it will be heavy on narrative. It's probably just gonna be more open world RPG, than linear adventure like their previous games. That's the vibe I'm getting. It'll be their version of "Mass Effect".

As for TLOU2, I think it would've fared better without the early leaks that put people into camps before it was even released. I think
Joel's death
would've been more of a genuine "holy shit" moment and might've been judged a bit differently. Same with the Abby chick, who was falsely reported on as being a hulking trans monster. The game was so hyper politicized, and could really do nothing to shed that once the cat was out of the bag and the internet did its thing. Feet were planted. Confirmation bias commenced.

Exactly TLOU2 is a great example.

Not wanting to rehash the story discussion on TLOU2, the presentation and mechanics were perfect. I was shocked on PS4 pro how good it looked and I have no idea how they got that running 1080/30 on PS4.

So I'm pretty sure the people against this when it comes out will be "something something Asian DEI" or maybe if they really want to set people off, same sex couples that you meet.

Which if that turns you off, alright. I'd be very shocked if the look and actual gameplay aren't top tier.
