The exact reason I wanted to see Islam vs Dariush
This guy knows shit. Besides the CDF fights being really fucking great, you really got to see Dariush flex a wide range of skills and what exactly makes him a great fighter. If the grappling cancels out and this fight plays out mostly on the feet I think that Dariush knocks Gamrot out. Although he’s a persistent beast Gamrots striking looks slightly off to me. What the fuck do I know though, this could play out exactly like the Armen fight.Basically how I feel. I like Gamrot a lot. Seems like a decent guy and he's lots of fun to watch with a great skill set. He certainly has the tools to beat Beneil wherever the fight goes.
That said, Dariush has been my favorite Lightweight for years (especially as my love of Gaethje sort of waned) and I've always seen him as a dark horse of the division. Everyone says that "He's only beaten a shot Ferguson" but in my estimation some of his best accomplishments are decisively out-grappling CDF twice (one of the best anti-wrestlers 155 has seen in years) and also being the sole guy at Lightweight to figure out Rashid Magomedov before he moved on to different promotions. He has no quit in him, hits surprisingly hard, and wrestles surprisingly well offensively and defensively for a BJJ guy. He's not scared to make it a brawl, either. I just worry about his gas tank and occasional lack of defensive responsibility, especially as he's been knocked out in many of his losses and rocked in other fights.
It's a three round fight.
To the reasonable person, the stat suggests that Dariush has impeccable TDD. In reality, he's been fighting non-wrestlers who aren't even trying to take him down. But you're focused on being pedantic, so you'll probably propose some other unnecessarily literal interpretation.
