interesting places you have worked

when i was in high school, i had all kinds of odd jobs. i was a cashier in k-mart. i worked at a one-hour photo lab. i was al bundy and was a shoe salesman in a sporting goods store. they were all pretty interesting. the one-hour photo gig was cool because they sent me out to training to learn how to develop film. along with that, i was trained on how cameras work, and on how to take photos.

but i'd say that my favorite, and most interesting job, was working at a hostel. the amount of different people i met on a daily basis was amazing. people from all over the world wanting to hang out with you, because you're from the city they're visiting was a pretty great feeling. and the amount of ass i got was obscene lol.

FBI Boston Office - It was only an internship, but it was pretty interesting to see all the kinds of cases. I found out that I can't be finger printed. They must have tried five times, but my prints were always unreadable.

Paramount Studios/Univision - This was a real interesting job. A Mexican reporter for Univision was suing them and I represented the company. The reporter was represented by Gloria Allred. The coolest part was that I was given a pass to come and go on the Paramount lot (I had to conduct interviews, etc.). I won the case, too.

Medieval Times. For the most part the job sucked since it was all nights, weekends, and holidays and I was running around in the sand all the time, but at the same time I had the coolest co workers and I loved working with the horses. Our department had a guys club/locker room mentality. Lots of pranks and goofing off.

I did contract work at an Intel chip fab place in Oregon where everyone wore bunny suits. After a while, it got to a point where I could tell who the guys on my team were through body language only, even from the back, since they were my only visual cues. One guy had a thug walk with chest out. Another always held his hands out in front of him like Monty Burns. Another was always slumped over. Worst part was having to pee and taking 5-10 minutes taking off the suit.

so many questions

An art supply store was pry the most interesting.

I worked in two different areas. The first, and most interesting, was building custom canvases for artists. That was pretty enjoyable. Worked with a couple of Mexican guys and they showed me how to dial in a perfectly measured frame which was pretty difficult when you're working with four loose pieces and then having to wrap them afterwards.

We built anything from 1' to one that was 20'. The 20' one was pretty badass when it was finally done.

The owner also had a reticulated pet python that he kept in the back where we worked, behind a sliding glass enclosure. She was around 15'. We'd have random requests from kids and customers to come back and check her out. I'm a big fan of reptiles and particularly snakes, so it was a nice perk.

what's an Intel chip fab place? Intel as in processor manufacturer? if so, why the bunny suits???

During the summer between my Junior and Senior year in high school, I worked for this guy that was insanely rich. I got paid $12 an hour to paint his 2 story boat dock and cut his grass.

This motherfucker has 2 boats, 3 jet skis, all kinds of toy watercraft, a heated swimming pool, palm trees (in Louisiana) and 3 golf carts. The guy even put a lift kit and big ass tires on one of the golf carts.

One day I showed up for work and it was raining, so he texted me and said to come inside through the backdoor and have a cup of coffee with him. I walk up to these big ass Hogwarts castle doors and knock, but it barely makes a sound because the doors are so thick. As I prepare to beat the door down with my fist so he can hear me knock, the doors start to automatically open, and I see the guy standing over in the kitchen. He had been watching me on his security system and all he had to do was press a button and his doors would automatically open.

My wife worked there in college.
Screech (Saved by the Bell) came in once with his girlfriend, went up to my girlfriend (wife now) and said, "Please tell people that come in that I'm not giving autographs".

I believed you until the autograph part.

Intel D1D in Hillsboro. It was mid 2000s, I think. They were transferring from x mm wafer to smaller xx mm so they changed out all the machines. Most of the guys working there were carpenter's union guys. We were the "specialists" from the Bay Area there to calibrate the lasers or something like that. Once the union guys finished, we started work.

worked for r&b hall of famer johnny otis for 5 years. worked @ mesa boogie for 4 years. worked with former mr america jimmy payne (jack lalanes best friend)for 4 years at a health and fitness facility. also did some commercial fishing, which was interesting.

1985 -1987 in Colorado I worked for a subsidiary company owned by a concert promotion company. Basically, I was a glorified parking attendant. But because of the job I saw sooo many free concerts at Red Rocks, McNichols Sports Arena, and Mile High Stadium, plus a couple of much smaller venues that I can't remember the names of anymore. Man, that was a great job for young single dude.

I never worked anywhere interesting. As a dice painter I don't travel much, or get exposed to new and interesting people very often.

Fine dining restaurant with James Beard chef. Saw people get brought to tears routinely. People nearly coming to blows over shit. A lot of after hours drinking, drug use, and fornication.

Nightclub. A lot of after hours drinking, drugs, and fornication. Had a night promoted by local strippers tons of porn chicks. Most random celebrities came through that place. Used a lot in movies too. You could be getting tipped $500 by Shaq one night and drinking a beer after wrap with Channing Tatum the next night.

One of the startups I was at was owned by this guy with way too much money. Owned one of the most expensive homes in Venice. Would randomly buy shit like Llamas, rare coins, outrageously expensive a/v equipment. Pretty sure he did more coke than Jbj.
