You know it's all made up, right?
Yeah but non-gi belts are even more made up. Since you don’t need an actual belt to keep your rash guard on your body.
You know it's all made up, right?
Chimaev has a brown belt and is still working hard to earn a black belt in BJJ, while ddp already has a black belt.
That should mean , ddp will go for the sub as soon as possible ?
What chances do you give fluffy against khmazat ?Then there's MMA grappling in which multiple world champion Rodolfo Vieira was submitted by purple belt (at the time) Anthony "Fluffy" Hernandez
There is a belt ranking system for no gi.Yeah, I’ve trained. You know there’s no real belt for no-gi grappling, and if there is it’s just made up, right?
Tell me, why would you need a belt if you don’t have a gi?
Son, these belts dont mean shit.
Khamzat has already sibmited black belts in the UFC while still being a blue belt…
I have submitted black belts and brown belts while i was a white belt in sparring… i’m not special. its a gimick to make money.
Though I mist say switched gyms which might have delayed it. But still, khamzat wrestled competitively all his life too which is a big yet neglected aspect in bjj.
BJJ belts only matter in BJJ competitions.
I would be impressed and extremely surprised if a UFC brown belt would do great in a brown belt division in a legit international competition.
There are only a few black belts in the roster who can actually be competitive in a BJJ competition and most of them are BJJ practitioners first.
I said only a few. Note that also level of competition matters. What Benson did is probably not possible to recreate. I don’t think any of the current top fighters with other backgrounds than BJJ could make it to the podium in the worlds today. But wait, haven't there been several UFC fighters that have won medals in the BJJ world championships despite starting to practice MMA before they started competing in BJJ? Benson Henderson for instance.
I don't think DDP is on Burns level where the threat will force Khamzat to fight standing. Apparently it's his go to technique to get off his back to threaten subs. We'll see, I don't think Khamzat has perfect submission defense, but I don't think he'll take the bait from DDP. DDP's best bet are scrambles, but Khamzat is good at that too.
If your example is from over 10 years ago, I'd say that supports that guys point. But wait, haven't there been several UFC fighters that have won medals in the BJJ world championships despite starting to practice MMA before they started competing in BJJ? Benson Henderson for instance.
Not necessarily. Maybe no MMA fighter was interested in the BJJ world championship recently or simply didn't have the time for it but the fact that there have been a few that have won medals in it shows that there are indeed elite BJJ practitioners in MMA.If your example is from over 10 years ago, I'd say that supports that guys point.
