Authoritarianism builds societies that discourage original thought. They can't design their own vehicles and cheating is encouraged, so copying others accomplishments doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Sure, to a point. I mean look at Japan. Right after WW2 they sent people to America to tour factories in order to figure out what the Tanks were doing right and copied them. But they always put their spin on stuff and tried to improve whatever they were copying. It’s a stupid practice, but on the other hand most of us become good by copying others until a point when we become confident and skilled enough to be creative
Was Hungary like this? Under the good old days?

Those damned Magyars are a strange bunch. Fewer than 14 million globally but overrepresented as far as inventors and scientists. We've all heard of, or used stuff made by Hungarians whether you realize it or not.
Gunpowder and big ass walls. More recently bird flus and pandemics. Can't these China motherfuckers come up with their own shit?
China needs to be dealt with sooner than later
This is a very astute observation.Authoritarianism builds societies that discourage original thought. They can't design their own vehicles and cheating is encouraged, so copying others accomplishments doesn't come as much of a surprise.
Thanks, although I can't imagine I'm the first one to put it into words. Dogma doesn't foster creative thought after all. This is a very astute observation.
Nah I got a planTheres no way to “deal with” China except through promoting internal reform in China
I’ve never heard that explanation for China’s state sponsored corporate espionage, lack of architecture and other artistic pursuits. But it makes perfect sense. I mean, look at socialist realism. Not exactly the apex of creativity. Thanks, although I can't imagine I'm the first one to put it into words. Dogma doesn't foster creative thought after all.
