Update:
Clarification:
The VICTIM was NOT in any way involved in the argument between the 2 gamers. Victim's address was just some random address 1 of the gamers gave out.

--

Swatting is when a gamer calls up the local LEOs in a rival gamer's area and makes a false report of criminal activity. This has led to LEOs storming houses thinking a crime has been committed or is being committed.

In Wichita Kansas, police were responding to a call from a man who claimed he had shot his dad and was holding hostages. Police arrived at the home of Andrew Finch and called him to come out. When he came to the door they shot him dead. Finch was unarmed and there was no hostage situation. Nobody from Finch's house called the police. A gamer somewhere made the call.

Ofcourse the gamer who called the cops should be charged with murder but what about the officer for shooting the guy dead. The police claim the guy was reaching for his waistband, the typical excuse cops always use to justify deadly force. This guy was unarmed , there was no crime and he was unrelated to the gamers involved in the Swatting.

Are SWAT required to wear body cams in Wichita?

Edit: Yes they are and hopefully the footage clears the fog.

Lmao I think this is more related to viewers fucking with streamers.

"Hol up this guy just killed me lemme call the cops on him"

Gamer panicked and didn't keep hands up probably. It's a shitty way to go.

Arizona taught us cops shouldn't have to identify a weapon before shooting. If you shot someone like that you'd go to jail. With the badge comes special protections.

I can imagine certain TWR users (banned included) doing this if they had access to personal info belonging to those that rustle them.

Was it over an EA game? If so, his family could just buy the instant respawn + gem loot pack for $19.99.

Fuck, that sucks all around.

What kind of fucking backwards pathetic loser dweeb do you have to be to call the cops as a prank on someone because they beat you in a video game.

And there are just too many scared shithead cops these days.

Smh.

Back when I used to play DOTA, I can certainly picture DOTA players doing this. DOTA had some of biggest douches in gaming I've ever come across.

Here's the bodycam footage.

They should charge the asshole who made the call with manslaughter. However, they probably won't in order to protect the cops. Similar to how prosecutors in Ohio refused to go after the guy who made the bullshit 911 call about John Crawford.

1 news article says this guy wasn't a gamer. And that he wasn't involved in the rivalry between the 2 gamers. The address 1 gamer claimed as his own was this guy's house.

Apparently, a typical gamer. This has been done a lot, and it's joked about all the time.

Poor kid never stood a chance. I hate seeing shit like this, I can't imagine losing a child because some troll thinks this shit is funny. It's super fucked up.

Edit: a family lost their father, who wasn't even involved with the video gaming.

Charge the caller with first degree murder.

Looks like the victim reached into his waistband and pointed something at the police. Pretty bad move.

Where is the bodycam footage in that link? I really want to see what happened there, but only see the interview with the chief

Woah, this happened 4 miles away from my house.

Well this sounds like that family is going to get a giant payday from the city, and my taxes are going up to pay for it.

Awesome.

Fucking hell. The bag of shit didn't even send the police to his rival's address, but to an address given falsely.
