I have heard that. They used to give us fluoride mouth wash in school when I was a kid. What I'm saying is does anyone pushing fluoride in tap water drink tap water? I drink tap water. My wife only gives our kid bottled or filtered water. She doesn't drink tap water. My sister and her kids were over today and they only drank bottled water. My mother was over, she brings spring water with her. I'm pretty sure my mayor, governor, senators, Congresspersons, Presidents don't drink fluorinated water.

Like I said I drink tap. But you and I aren't making policy. I cook with tap water, water my vegetables, fill the pool, water for my chickens and pets. Hygienic uses. I have good teeth despite my love of candy. I trust my dentist, been seeing her since 5th grade.

Also my mother was a chemist for Colgate Palmolive. I've actually been in test groups for tooth paste trials.
Congress alone is reported to spend nearly a million a year for bottled water. That's tax spending not personal.

We make our own RO water most of the year. I take the kid to the dentist. No cavities.

But I remember a few years ago the dental hygienist asking if we wanted the fluoride treatment. She said it would prevent cavities. I said, for teeth that are going to fall out? She just kind of looked at me like nobody had ever said that to her before.

I asked her if she knew fluoride was classified as a neurotoxin and it actually lowered IQ in young children. She said she didn't. I shrugged.

I know the argument - safe levels, .7mgl, etc. I'll just have my kid to brush twice a day and keep the industrial chemicals to a minimum. And no, he didn't get the covid shot either - I wasn't really too keen on myocarditis.

I'll try a different tact. I have no opinion on the efficacy of fluoride. I have done no research, and my continuing lifetime of drinking tap water goes unabated. Now, do the poors drink tap water? Or do they drink prepackaged beverages including soda and juice? The poor people I know barely have teeth(drugs) and they won't drink plain water and are the most likely to be anti fluoride. I know them to eat and drink like children.
Fuck even my most strident dem old hippy neighbors reverse osmosis filter their water, which removes fluoride.
Post covid has muddied the lines. Now the health conscience push chemicals and drugs. They won't eat chicken that has been vaccinated then call you insane for questioning vaccines

My wife is waking up. She due in May for kid#2 and she was terrified by the sheer amount of shots given to a kid in the first 2 years of life. We have a vaccine exemption now, but that just allows us to pick and choose what we want to get. No covid or flu shots yet, but where up to date with all other school requirements.
The one that's getting her to question things is hepatitis vaccine. We both are checked, and we don't have it. There is no intravenous drug use in the home, the only risk would be botched medical treatment. Taking a new born from the mother immediately after birth and injecting them with chemicals is a scary thing. Then while she's struggling post partum they continue to pull the child away and administer more shots over the next few days. We had covid when she delivered our first and they kicked me out as soon as she gave birth, they held her there alone for 4 days.

I'm not sure why my wife won't let the kid drink tap, but she buys bottled water so I don't complain

That’s because some people in the government do. When you write like this you are characterizing the government as a hive mind. The reality is that it’s made up of a lot of people with different motivations. Some well meaning civil servant probably was behind the push to get fluoride added.

You’ll have to figure it out for yourself if the policy is good or not. There are plenty of good and bad actors in and out of the government. What does the actual evidence say that it does to people drinking tap water regularly?

You're saying the same government that has allowed cancer causing chemicals to be dumped into rivers and processed into our food and basic goods that we use every day has some random people in it that care so much about the country that they have been completely adamant about ensuring fluoride stays in our water supply for decades despite the fact that a large percentage of people don't want it?

I couldn't tell you if excessive amounts of fluoride is bad for you or not but I can tell you that the entire thing is extremely odd that they just randomly care about our teeth so much while saying fuck you all to our overall health. Those good samaritans in the government would have been way better off telling the country that they are systematically being poisoned by processed sugar rather than ensuring that fluoride stays in our drinking supply. What good are your teeth when you're dead?

What I can tell you is that our bodies didn't evolve to need excessive amounts of fluoride in our drinking water. The odds of it being paramount enough to our health to where it must be forced upon us is pretty low. While the potential side effects of it are mostly unnecessary and unwarranted.
