No disrespect, but you're naming great fighters who didn't have to do that many adjustments.

Randy Couture beat Vitor when Vitor was a god because he had the perfect plan. I feel it's different from the fighters you named.

And when it's needed, all of them change, too. Just look at Topuria who's a Georgian wrestler from childhood.
When two of the rounds against Emmet were anyone's round, he retorted to where he feels safe in wrestling in the 5th. Making sure he got 3 rounds from the judges.

Shavkat is the same, when he felt that Wonderboy was a hard one to solve in the striking, he just took him down and mauled him. And against Neal he looked to fight
on the inside, going in the clinch where he took away Neal's technical striking. The guy knows just what to do to secure the victory.

I feel Khabib and GSP had that same thing, so yes, they are like Randy in that sense... Just better.

MM is underappreciated by so many fans. Dude's ability to make reads and exploit openings is incredible. MM had such good awareness, e.g. that walk-off left knee KO against Moraes in the rematch because he set it up and timed it perfectly. His training videos with other fighters is such a great series, e.g. that recent one where Arman called him a genius.

GSP fought smart and very consistently, was a master at utilizing the jab and takedowns to control fights. I do wish he took more risks, but he had a long reign because he rarely made mistakes.

Only reason I listed Volk 3rd instead of higher - and I think his game is so well-rounded and frustrates opponents - is his lack of patience in taking the big fights at the right time. He could have had an argument for all-time GOAT had he not gotten TKO'd in 2 straight fights.

I don't have eye-poker on my list because the constant fouls / threat of eyepokes and testing positive for PEDs so many times shows he didn't mentally believe he could win without cheating.

I for sure have DJ in my top 5. I guess I'm debating whether I have him, Islam or Khabib as 4th.

People keep saying Jones. Jones is a legitimate moron. He either popped for dick pills or steroids, probably both, got DQ’d because he didn’t know the rules, and couldn’t think to get a cab when he’s both a millionaire and drunk on drugs partying.

Uhhhhh whaaaat Topuria cleaned house vs Emmett, hit him with everything but the kitchen sink.

42 - 50 and 44 - 50 scored by the non blind judges. One judge was blind and gave 1 mercy round to Emmett 46 - 49. Everybody had it 5 nothing.

Jones stupidly got DQ'd against Matt Hamill. He also would've gotten DQ'd against Anthony Smith, if Lionheart had just said he couldn't continue.

So, two mental blips a decade apart, across nearly six HOURS of in-cage time overall.
