Twitter didn't. Apple, Spotify and apparently Youporn were the other companies.
If you look at what determines most behaviour in a competitive market, it's threat from competition (direct rivals, new entries and potential substitution), customer power and supplier power.
If the suppliers are content creators and internet providers, the competition is primarily each other and customers are advertisers, where do you think the balance of power lies?
