I grew up around a lot of Punjabi sikhs and have known lots of them, they are the closest Asian demographic to (working class) British people by far, very similar attitudes and how they deport themselves socially, incl behaviour under alcoholic influence.

They had zero issues with fellow drivers who were pakastani african australian etc. But if you were in certain suburbs you were the worst kind of person automatically.

Seems like there are a lot of people here that don't know shit about immigration other than what FB tells them. I just lost an East Indian driver to a blatantly racially-motivated attack.

My driver and two of his friends were fishing, and a group of white males came upon them and beat my driver with a fishing gaff (among other items). Apparently one of the other two friends were held under water, and my driver was beat badly. He had two immediate surgeries, and needed a third for facial reconstruction which had to be paid out of pocket.

Because he was only here 11 months, one month shy of him being able to apply for his PR status... no MSI. No medical employment insurance. He had to return home to get immediate medical treatment, which will impact his PR status and he will have to start the process over again. I doubt he ever returns to Canada.

So he got beat here in a racial attack, through no fault of his own, and Canada wouldn't do shit to help him, so he had no choice but to return home to receive medical treatment. This is the Canada we live in now. My driver had a masters degree, and I always felt bad he was stuck working with us, but he was a good kid and always conducted himself professionally.

Three people were arrested. I still have yet to find out if the hate crime staple will be attached to it, but it should. It's kind of hard to stand out for the immigrants coming here... that ARE educated, that do speak proper English, that really try to assimilate... when absolutely everyone looks at them as if they are mere peasants.

And though we personally don't receive any subsidies for hiring East Indians, I am aware of the rules they must follow during the PR application process. I was told specifically by my driver he needs a minimum of 33 hours per week of employment, so this whole "Immigrants never work or are lazy" is bullshit.

Most of them are working menial jobs white Canadians (and Americans) won't do, then pulling a side hustle at night.

The reality is, white people are getting fucked into the minority here in North America. Having 0.8 children per white couple, while everyone else is mixing racially and fucking like rabbits. There will be zero population growth without immigration, and we (both Canada and the USA) desperately NEEDS those tax dollars.

Damned if we do, and damned if we don't.

I’ve worked with many, many Indians and I’m fond of the vast majority of them. In many ways I preferred them to my “own kind” because they lacked the ego and selfish desire to climb the corporate ladder at someone else’s expense that’s common among those of us born into the US system. They were the cream of the crop in India, so not what a lot of people think of when they stereotype. Kind, fun, hard working, social. Exceptions exist of course.

I think your anecdote will be a shifting point in the public‘s perception of mass immigration in Canada.
 
In the Chicago area, there seems to be two main kinds of Indians.

There are a group of Indians that are physically larger, and use two Christian sounding first names such as "James John".

There is a second group of Indians that are smaller on average, and use names like Jugnesh Patel.

I think possibly the first group is from southern India and the second group is from the North?

Is this correct? Is this the same in Canadia?

Statscan doesn't give data on what is paid to whom based on race, to suggest that they would is ridiculous. In the meantime just look at this statscan data that shows how many immigrants aren't employed. If they aren't working the government is paying for them. Now since we know the majority immigrants come from India... lets apply some basic logic...

unfortunately suburbs have certain ethnic groupings just naturally and when every weekend theres some sort of emergancy in said suburb it gets attached to the people of suburb. Then the race i guess, it was pretty hard to shift that perception i admit as a few felt it was tied to their personal safety refusing fares or even to enter the suburb basically .

Thats a Few decades back now. Before the days of uber heh. Alot more gossip between drivers and fear probably as people were quite untracable back in the day. So probably a lot of gossip and fear that increased their distrust.

The immigrants of 2 decades ago are entirely different than what we are receiving today. 2 decades ago we weren't being flooded with low skill workers, you actually had to be benefit to the country in order to immigrate 20 years ago.

US Indians =/= Canada Indians. Like you said the US only accepts the cream of the crop in terms of legal immigration and taken as a group Indian immigrants in the US have a higher educational level and income than the local population. They're very much outside the norm for their country of origin. Canada isn't like that, it gives citizenship to just about anybody. You end up with a lot of third-world behaviour that nobody actually wants.

my peeps are OG Canadians, and it took a while for immigrants to come up here in the Arctic. Seeing it a lot now, mainly Africans and Filipinos.

We're a small town of roughly 9,500, and i hear people complain about out of towners taking up a lot of the jobs here...but i just tell them "well, why didn't you take the job?" or "this what happens when people don't show up to work, they get people who do"

I think it's tied to class/caste. The higher caste Indians seem to do very well assimilating. The lower caste seem to struggle from what I've seen.

I also find if you're nice to them, they tend to be nice back. I think they're expecting you to hate them and are always on the defensive. Once you show you mean no harm, they tend to relax a bit.
 
I’ve seen the ones working in 7/11, security guard and Amazon flex drivers sporting in luxury cars.

How? The pay on those jobs are not great.

That's fine. Population will shrink for a while which will open up housing and resources which will lead to population growth.

A system that requires constant growth is unsustainable. You guys recognize this in business, why can't you recognize it in other areas?

The reason you need constant growth is to fund your idiotic social programs which should have never existed in the first place.
