Yup, and a lot of the techniques he uses in stand up like his side kicks to the knees were considered big no nos that would get you taken down back then. He probably wouldn't have been as complete a fighter he is now, and even now he's not exactly the most well rounded guy. I think 20 years ago he'd have just been a takedown and ground and pound
