I'm sure it's been said before... but 294 was a catastrophic error by Volk

Volk should just become a Manager of the Walmart Bakery (with Benefits) and not take these short notice fights.

Poor dude is getting abused by receiving money for fight opportunities.

I feel so bad for him and his rich-and-famous UFC lifestyle...

I don't know who to blame. Are UFC neglecting their backup fighters for more marquee main events or is Alex too ambitious for his own good?

He went from P4P #2, unscathed in UFC, arguably beating the greatest over 5 rounds, obliterating Rodriguez... To getting knocked senseless in one round.

He can keep dominating at FW I just think this was a massive error on his end. The fight had zero relation to the first fight

Which reminds me of the upcoming fight with Aspinall vs Sergei. After Aspinall fucked his leg for a full year after a strange fight with Blaydes. And then a win over..... Tybura. I feel Sergei lights him up. I'm just amazed how quickly UFC fills these important fights on two weeks notice. Kudos to them but are the athletes ready for it?

Signed: Not a fan of CKB

You can never come to a conclusion like this until you know for sure how much he made off the 2nd fight.

Agreed about Kamaru, personally I’m pulling for him more than prob ever before now. A decorated former champ even being willing to step up in that scenario then goes out there and shows the world that not only is he still right there athletically but also reminds us that he’s just a fierce ass competitor at his core.

Never stopped trying to win, fought out of danger in Khamzat’s best positions, was spry enough on his busted knees to defend tds, was landing solid punches and looked willing to dog it out and get ugly if need be. Wish we could see it over 5 rounds

100%

I don't blame Volk going for it, when the opportunity was there. It's not guaranteed that he would've got a rematch later on. So he went for it and unfortunately lost. That's the nature of the game.

And hearing him talk in post fight press conference makes it more acceptable in why he took this fight.

it was largely the last minute weight cut, he looked half dead in there... as soon as Islam got him in that clinch and he couldn't get out of it you could see how drained he was.

he's usually a mini hulk.
Fighting weight up and using weight cut as an excuse isn't a good look

ufc prefers islam in the long term, also uae money
they didnt want to risk islams run by having full camps for both, so it was the perfect opportunity
theres way more politics involved than anyone thinks
Put down the tin foil hat

And I will double that back to Tom vs Sergei. I think Sergei is gonna win handily. He has had a giant advantage being a backup fighter. Tom vs Sergei can he a VERY interesting and Close fight... if they were equally ready. Now if Tom has the ability to show up that early and perform like Bisping we will see. But I'm getting Volkanovski deja vu vibes

Will bump this post after the fight...

Yeah, with the benefit of hindsight.

It was G as fuk of Volk to take it.

Fantastic match on paper and better than Makachev Oliveira II on paper.

If he wasn't training and felt under prepared, that's on him.

Fight 2 doesn't negate fight 1.

A lot of peeps felt Volk won. No reason that should change.

I don't think having any amount of training would've prepped him for the LHK (feels good typing that again #MirkoBless)

Volk already prepped for Islam in an entire other camp and fought him.

He knew what he was getting in to.

It's better on paper if the paper doesn't note 11 days notice for out of camp Volk.

Hopefully Volk told them 10 million dollars or no go.
