I'm on TRT. Ask me anything

Do you have to be on it for life? I really want to get on it as I'm 43 and have a lot of signs of low T. I'm sure I'd love it for the first few years of increased energy and feeling young and strong. But I don't want to rush to get on anything I have to take for life. I hear all these commercials on the radio around here just like the docs are hadning that stuff out to anyone who visits their "male medicine" clinic.

How loosely do they hand them out? I want to get on it in the future but I don’t know if they’d bite since I bench teh 350 natty. Do you think they’d call bullshit?
Theyre pretty stringent in that you need to really qualify. The onboarding process included getting bloodwork 3 times in a matter of months. Trying HCG mono therapy first, getting a full physical and Review of Systems.

After all that I was prescribed. I get bloodwork twice a year

Is it possible to fool the blood tests into thinking I have low T? I’ve heard there are ways. Also, how do they decide what “normal” is. I’m mid 40’s, but I want to be mid 20’s levels. Not normal for a 40 yo.

How old are you?
27
Is easier to lose fat or keep it off?

Does it affect your mood at all? I'm a little worried it will make me more aggressive or less patient.

How much does it cost and does your insurance cover it?

How hard was it to convince the doctor? Mine just told me to eat healthier and get more sleep. She didn't really want to give me the trt
It helps keep my mood stable. Pre TRT I was always stressed, anxious, or irritable. I feel level headed and stoic most of the time. Stressful situations kind of roll of my shoulders now. Insurance doesnt cover it but its cheap. $250 for well into 6 months worth. So around $40 a month? Mind you I take low doses so it lasts me longer.

Normal would be whatever is in the reference range. as for where in the reference range, that depends on you. Id say between 500 and 900 ng/dl total testosterone is normal. Everyone is different though. I suggest trying a natural route to bring your levels ups

It is a lifelong commitment, yes

What's the price? I'd love to try it but I worry about the price and the lifelong commitment. You almost have to be sure that you'll be able to get your treatment. Seems risky.

I experimented on TRT for a year in Thailand in 2019.

Didn't help me much because my levels were normal. I was 36.

Honestly HCG monotherapy gave me more energy than TRT.

I think the retired MMA fighters who get know it and claim they feel so great on it simply had low T from steroid usage and are on prescribed TRT as an excuse to be on gear again without the stigma. Matt Serra comes to mind.

I might try TRT again in 7 years.

HCG probably Made you feel better because it backfilled the downstream hormones you were lacking in the first place, such as Pregneneolone and DHEA. These two parent hormones are responsible for a plethora of mechanisms that promote a better sense of well-being

I'm not reading all the responses so idk if you answered this but have you seen it improve your fitness to the level of the modern warrior?

I've been a TRT recipient for nearly 3 years now.

Im pretty well-versed in how to avoid side effects, low dosage split into frequent administration, to mimic natural testosterone production. A lot of guys inject a high Dose every 1 to 2 weeks and fluctuating like crazy leading to a lot of side effects.

I've been on TRT since 2017. I was in my early 50s at the time & I'd just gotten involved in a relationship with my now-wife who's 21 years younger than me. So, I wanted to be sure that I'd be able to match her energy in & out of the bedroom. So, I went to my primary & got my T levels checked out & I discovered that they were lower than I would like them to be. So, I was got prescribed 200 mg of Testosterone Cypionate by injection every two weeks. And it's worked wonders for me for almost four years now with no side effects whatsoever.

What sort of dosage are you on & how frequently?

50 mg Test cypionate every 3.5 days. Im considering trying 25 mg every other day for more stability. The more frequent the administration, the less swings in your readings

Was on now off.
Works well, but for my needs... happier off.
I might revisit in mid or late 50s if needed. My dad and older brother are both on TRT and suits them well energy and health wise.

Damn you 27. I’m sure there was a way to get back to normal without trt.

What was your cycle or cycles that crashed your test in the first place?
