Rumored Ilia Vacating the LW Strap?

Not at all.
Ilia is now a LW, after starching the FW-goats back to back.

We just want to see the best and most dangerous fights for champions.
Especially for dominant champions.

At LW, unfortunately we never got to see Islam vs Arman and Ilia.
(*I know, Arman pulled out).

Now at WW, it seems like they are pushing for an Usman-fight, which is ridiculous, considering there are 4 guys with a better claim for the shot.

Unearned legacy title fights are pointless and it's ruining the sport.

Keep those fights out of the title picture.

I have a hard time seeing how anyone can support it, except those who are financially motivated by it (Ali, etc).

It's just talk. Going to the upper division is always a greater achievement. End of story.

Proof it's just talk is you don't apply the same standard to Ilia, Arman is right here, Ilia is ducking him trying to do exactly what you criticize makhachev for, and you're fine with it.

You're wrong again.

I'm also annoyed by Ilia not pushing for the Arman-fight, you can see that in previous posts if you care to look.

Ilia however was talking similar shit about Max not deserving to fight him, yet they still made that fight, so it was obviously just talk.

I would also keep that same energy if for example Khamzat was pushing for a "legacy fight" against someone undeserved, since I'm a fan of the sport first and foremost.

I can understand if you're the brother or father of a fighter, that you would want to give him an easy fight, but as just a fan it doesn't make sense to me.

I'm ok with the next fight they're going to make anyway, as I don't have much say in it in the end. Sadly it's entertainment sport, not a true sports league

You can't "run to the uppest division" as it's the harder thing to do.

If Islam fought Ilia at LW you'd be complaining that "he only depends against FWs"

Makhachev can't win with you guys, if he fights Shavkat next you'll say he's ducking Topuria somehow
Not when a bum like JDM who has the grappling abilities of a 3 yr old child is the champ. Thats like fighting Bisping or Serra as a champ, its an easy fight. Specially compared to a 17-0 dude who destroyed and KO’ed your 2 best wins.

You ask 10000 people if Topuria or JDM is a harder fight and 10000 people will tell you Topuria. So yeah, Islam ran away when he was called out by Topuria.

Ahhh “JDM was never good” stage in full effect.

I understand Topuria has personal issues but he needs to vacate and let the LW division go forward.

Arman vs Paddy sounds like a banger to me.

I do not understand this kind of thinking whatsoever. What I see is a naturally smaller guy wanting to move up in weight and fight the best of that division, and I think what a fucking warrior! Isn't that what we want to see? Who gives a fuck about titles? This is about fighting, and if a smaller dominant guy wants to fight bigger guys, that's amazing. That's the shit we want to see. That's the whole spirit of this sport that we're watching.
Same view when islam went up to fight JDM?

Belts don't mean shit. The UFC invented them to get more people hyped for "title fights" and thus buy more tickets. I'm here to watch good fights, and if one of our generational talents in ilia wants to move up and challenge himself against bigger fighters, I'm all for it. Fuck belts. They're not important. People like you would be the biggest marks in professional wrestling, obsessing over bullshit belts, angles and story lines. None of that shit matters, and they're not more important than good fights and seeing our one of our generation's best talents test himself.
The UFC invented belts?

The difference is he actually defended his belt and the guy everyone wanted to see a superfight with, ran to the uppest divison. So now he has to vacate again to fight that coward. Conor literally ran from Khabib for 2 yrs and got stripped for inactivity until he faced him and got destroyed.

Ilia is running TOWARDS the challenging matchup, there’s a big difference.
Ilia is a hero for going up to fight the champ above, but Islam is a coward for doing the exact same thing*?

Retarded much?

* and at least islam got some defences and effectively cleared the division just about before moving up.

If he goes after Islam you cannot hate that. Fighting against a monster with insane grappling and a massive size advantage in a weightclass he will be way smaller than all opponents. thats ballsy. sucks for lightweight, but who cares. pimblett vs arman is a nice fight too.
He already got the free title shot at LW though

If he goes up to WW he needs to get some wins in that division and join the back of the pack

Risky move by Ilia. He's too small for WW.
Today it looks like he isnt vacating, interim title fight seems official now, and he wouldnt be exactly "too small for WW" if the guy he would be aiming to fight is a former LW with 1 single WW fight so far.

For all the glory...if he faces Tsarukyan there is nothing for him, a defense, while the actual LW champion is in a different division, he got the title off Oliveira, the former champion, and vacating that (if he does) without a single defense and going for a 3rd belt would be a bit of a travesty.

Could be Baddy's world now, he's gotta click off more big wins and pressers.
Cornrow Paddy fights for the strap, grabs the gold, then eats many big sammiches.

He's Bad, like LL !

Sounds like he isn't taking his divorce well.

Hell, that's no surprise. Have you seen his ex?
I'd spend days standing in line for the possibility of just getting a chance to stand in line.

Nope, you can read my posts, there must be like 10 before the Islam fight, right after the Burns and Belal fights that JDM is terrible.

Burns is washed but still good ofc and props to JDM for KO’ing him, but he was losing the whole fight. How can you watch that fight and Belal who almost beat him standing up the whole fight while his striking is terrible and think that JDM is some top elite dude that could beat Islam lol.

But honestly the skill level of the division is atrocious. We have a guy like Gary looking like GSP out there, thats how bad the dudes are at WW…

Come on man, Garry looks nothing like GSP
