Ilia Topuria Robbery Thread

Volk + Max has to be probably the hardest 2 fights in a row in all divisions, but Pereira's been superhuman and taking last notice fights and finishing them strongly. Either guy deserved it. Atleast Topuria probably has a longer career than Pereira.

Come on, each one of Ilia's victories this year shits on Pereira's entire resume.

I'm cool with Pereira winning because I like him and MMA is basically a popularity contest, but let's not be stupid about this eh?

Volk was coming off a head kick KO loss at LW just 1 month before Ilia KOd him. Let's wait for a rematch when Volk is fresh to give him credit for that.
It's comparable because the 2 wins are over top 3 all-time FWs.

Volk is still a top 3 FW currently and a top 3 FW GOAT. As you mentioned, the head kick KO loss was at LW, so it doesn't really negate his status at his regular weight class.

Yeah but it does scramble his fuckin brain so he can't take a punch as well...

It negated his ability to take a shot. He didn't give himself enough time to recover from the Islam KO.

Complete mismanagement by the UFC and his team to feed him to Ilia just a few months later

Funny thing is, Ilia wasn't even nominated at the awards. DDP and Pantoja were nominated

Alex took his fights on short notice. That gives him 20+ points

its insane for sure, i think shogun 2005 or gsp 2011-2013 might have had two wins that could compete but other then that i don't reallly know.

I'd vote for Pereira but Topuria is a well deserving winner imo.
