Not at all. Islam has defended his lw title 4 times already. He knows as for now fighting Ilia is a lose-lose situation. That’s why he is not willing to fight another 145-er.

fight armen, fight charles, fight gaethje, "Im waiting for the outcome of a fight at WW" is a not a reasonable excuse to not fight.

I'm from the future brother / just giving the public service announcement. Step one was announcing the Ilia/Charles fight tonight, step two was Belal losing Saturday, step three Islam announcing he was going to move up to fight for the title, last step was Dana announcing the Ilia/Charles fight would be for the undisputed belt.

I think when you capture undisputed or interim gold at LW and in Charles' case defend it, the tag of "former 45er" should be put to rest.

No worries, if Belal wins I still think we'll be in a pretty decent spot. Pretty sure after Saturday Islam will announce that either he is going to WW or that the Ilia/Charles winner is up next.
Ilia winning vs Charles is the most compelling of course but if Charles starches him that'd be the first time Charles really becomes enticing for a rematch. I really hope Charles vs Ilia is next because that'd A) be a compelling match by itself and B) that makes hype for Ilia as contender, if he wins, through the roof
Yeah though, either way I think we'll be fine. Worst case scenario is Belal wins AND Charles wins, because then the biggest fight we get is only Islam vs Charles 2. Even then though, Charles beating Ilia would be pretty big and at least build some hype for that rematch.
