If you were rich which servants would you hire?

Let's say you had enough money to hire the entire staff at Downton Abbey. If you haven't seen the show just imagine a huge mansion in 1920 England with a ton of servants.

They had a

Butler
Housekeeper
Under Butler
Head Valet
Valet
Senior Lady's Maid
Lady's Maid
About 5 first footmen
About 5 second footmen
A bunch of other lady's maids
A bunch of housekeepers
A groundskeeper
Several gardeners
A chauffeur
An entire kitchen staff big enough to run a restaurant
And probably a few more that I'm forgetting.

I don't care how rich I am, I don't think I could ever be comfortable with that many people living in my house constantly.

I could only see myself hiring 3.

1. A groundskeeper because I hate yardwork
2. A maintenance guy because a big house can be a pain. Something's always breaking.
3. Maybe a security guy or 2 just to keep the crazies away.
I'll just assume I'm worth ~$90 Billion dollars.

I'd hire all of them. Butler staff, a team of maids, a team of footmen, a team of housekeeps, a team of groundkeepers, at least 3 chauffeurs (in case others in the family needed to go somewhere), a kitchen staff with a quality chef to be in charge (every meal would be something great), and a big security team to keep the grounds safe from outsiders.

And then staff quarters for the staff that stays on site. Those who don't can come and go as they need to to do their job.

My mansion would be huge (like 100,000 sq feet minimum) and the property would be at least 100 acres. (But it depends on where I'd live. If in the city it'd be smaller, in the country would be bigger). And it would be completely gated all the way around. You gotta come through a security checkpoint to gain entry.

With that much money why not have a team of people to wait on you hand and foot?

It sure is fun to dream.

cleaner / chef most practical.

concubine / hilarious.

filipina, all of the above?

i remember a co-worker was describing the life they had before they came to the country i am at. they had multiple servants. made me think differently. on what is possible. what is life? if you had multiple servants, how much would that benefit you?

I would hire none. My wife cooks and cleans. I do repairs and yard work. Simple life is what we like. Wife would defin hire a cook and maid tho lol and I'm sure this would be her quote. " I've been doing this job for 25 years! I'm retiring!"

You don't need to get involved in any of that manure. I would need only 2 hires. A Good #2, and a good fixer for specialist work. That's it. They can get in the weeds with all that other crap.
