Who would they be? Only 5 (artists) musicians/bands dead or alive that you could only listen to their music for the rest of your life.

For me it would be the following:

    Florence + The Machine
    At.The.Drive.In.
    Tupac
    Creedence Clearwater Revival
    Outkast

Florence + the Machines have released two albums...

I can't think of five off the top of my head, but the artist(s) would have to have a prodigious amount of music.

    ::Edit::

    Beethoven
    Joe Pass
    Christopher Parkening
    The Beatles

The fifth would be XTC, The Beach Boys, or Charlie Parker

Cool, so far people are listing many of my favourites. I'd have to go with:

The Strokes (and all peripheral projects)
Anything Damon Albarn-related (that way I get Blur and the Gorillaz)
    Anything RZA-related
    Curtis Mayfield
    Outkast

I really couldn't do it. I just wouldn't listen to music probably. Even bands who are great with a ton of songs, like Floyd, Zeppelin and the Stones, I can barely listen to anymore. I get tired of things quick.

i can appreciate that. oftentimes i'll look through my mp3 player for something to listen to, and out of all the songs it's often difficult to find one that i'm in the mood to hear.

I've never really listened to much of James Brown, but I do like him....and he had 73 studio albums so it'd take a while to get bored.
he is #1 on my list.

    Pink Floyd
    Tool
    Radiohead
    Fleet Foxes
    The Beatles

I'd also slip some classic NIN, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, and Soundgarden albums into my back pocket.
